With more than 240,000 hotels worldwide, Expedia Lodging Partner Services is driving innovation in the development and management of a highly complex and fast moving inventory.
The Global Partner Marketing (GPM) is a growing organization that powers B2B marketing (email, web, social, and events) supported by an in-house creative team and powered by modern marketing technology (Marketo).
We’re in expansion mode, purposefully building out our team with high-reaching goals to create a world-class B2B marketing org that will drive the LPS goals of…
• Acquisition – adding new hotel partners
• Penetration – deepening the engagement of existing hotel partners
• Retention – developing long term relationships
• Satisfaction – keeping partners happy
• Efficiency – reducing the sales cycle and taking on tasks to give time back to sales teams (Market Management)
Position Overview
GPM is comprised of both globally and regionally focused marketing teams, enabling our marketing to be both globally efficient and locally relevant. We’re looking for a Director of Marketing to head our North American (NORAM) marketing hub as part of our field marketing organization. As the hub lead, you will…
• Work with NORAM sales leadership to craft marketing strategies/roadmaps that drive the regions’ daring goals to deepen property engagement and accelerate acquisition.
• Lead your marketing team in the transition from a traditionally heavy focus on events to a more holistic marketing team capable of delivering across multiple channels.
• Be the marketing authority in NORAM, conversant in multi-channel marketing techniques (SEO/SEM, social, display), with a deeper proficiency in email and event marketing.
• Roll up your sleeves, and (as needed) directly lead an event or write copy for an email campaign.
• Be familiar with B2B sales and marketing technologies (Marketo, On24, Splash, SalesForce) and understand their technical constraints, helping to inform your marketing delivery.
• Have experience with B2B marketing constructs/concepts, such as demand funnels, MQLs, SQLs, and lead scoring.
You will be based in Bellevue, WA and partner with a NORAM sales team which numbers ~500 across North America and Canada. You will lead a team of 7 marketers (3 positions currently open) based in Bellevue and in key cities within the US.
In addition to partnering with the NORAM sales team, you will work with the following partners to meet your objectives:
• Your team: for execution of annual event calendar (~70 supported events) as well as ongoing promotional email campaigns. Also, to fully staff team and help it transition to become a full-service marketing organization.
• In-house creative design team: for building creative and design assets needed for high impact marketing, as well as understanding global content standards.
• Global marketing team: to ensure field marketing campaigns complement and not conflict with global campaigns, using global assets to reduce costs and improve speed to market. Also, to provide field feedback to inform global marketing team efforts.
• Marketing infrastructure team: to power marketing campaigns, uphold use of templates/standards, and ensure campaigns are appropriately instrumented for measurement.
• Product marketing team: to understand product strategy, use core messaging materials, and provide field feedback to inform product marketing efforts.
• Analytics team: to understand the impact of marketing efforts, dialling up what is working and dialling down what is not. Also, to help inform the creation of marketing reports and associated insights.
Requirements for the role:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in marketing or sales related field.
• 10-12 years of B2B marketing experience, particularly around driving multi-channel marketing campaigns.
• Experience working in complex global organization with frequent interactions between global and field marketing organizations.
• Requires fine-tuned people skills needed to manage senior partners, drive their objectives, and push back diplomatically when needed.
• Critical need to understand the business and have a fine-tuned capability to make the right calls on a consistent basis.
• Ability to run large scale events with 200+ people in attendance.
