About the Job
The Director, Social Media Strategy & Engagement is responsible for the development of best in class strategies and management of all Social Media Programs & Employee Engagement on a global level.
She/he will provide leadership across the divisions and geo locations working closely with the Director of Global Demand Generation, the Director of Biddable Media & Organic Search and liaising with other leads in the divisions and Field Marketing to ensure an integrated response to marketing objectives.
The Director serves as the lead strategic voice and coach for the Social Content & Engagement Strategy. This role is tasked with developing, implementing and integrating social media and content marketing. We are looking for candidates that possess a true passion for creating innovative experiences and develop programs that engage our employees and our clients.
This role will require both strategic thinking and hands-on execution skills to be successful. As part of the Global Demand Center, this individual will be part of the Global planning process and will be responsible for shaping the Digital Marketing Strategy and executing social media and employee engagement to generate demand and build the sales pipeline.
This position reports into the Senior Director, Global Digital Marketing in New York, NY.
Responsibilities
• Develop and manage social campaign strategies from briefing to final reporting (setting goals and KPIs, targeting and segmentation, creative approach, post formats, budgets and media pressure, metrics and tracking strategy, A/B testing, and reporting). While this is more of a strategic role, you must still be willing and able to get your hands dirty!
• Oversight of ongoing optimization of the social strategy, playbook, community management process, and content creation process to improve our delivery and enhance results
• Responsible for DynamicSignal which is Akamai’s employee communications platform to drive reach, productivity and advocacy for our employees and their audiences.
• Use of social listening tools and to help inform internal stakeholders
• Management of our Social Media agency. Be the point of contact between Akamai stakeholders and the agency.
• Ensure that strategies take advantage of a Social CRM approach (with a multi-step funnel and re-engagement strategy) when appropriate.
• Serve as an evangelist for Social Media and develop and maintain account wide best practice documents, oversee POV documentation on new platforms and significant platform updates
• Monitors overall landscape and industry trends including new platforms and competitor activity
• Lead virtual and in-person presentations in a polished, energetic way, displaying story-telling elements throughout
Basic Qualifications
• 12 years of applicable experience with BS/BA degree or 8 years experience with advanced degree and digital media experience working for major brands
• 5+ years managing social media activity, including managing strategy and employee engagement
• Proven record of growing followings, engagement, traffic, video starts via social media
• Demonstrated use of listening tools to inform editorial decision-making and social programming
• Has demonstrated a proven knowledge of major and emerging social channels, specific rules of engagement for brands/advertisers, and general platform policies
• Worked with influencers and social partners (e.g., social swaps) to increase reach
• Deep knowledge of social platforms including: LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook)
• Strong writing, fluent in social imagery and social video
• Experience working with Social Media Management Platforms (e.g. Hootsuite, Sprinklr, Ads Manager)
• Experience working with Employee Engagement tools (DynamicSignal, etc.)
• Experience working website analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends) and ad serving tools (e.g. DART, Atlas)
Desired Qualifications
• Strong understanding of the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement
• Experience identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform, and motivate
• Experience with A/B, multivariate testing and optimizing user funnels
• Working Knowledge with online marketing tools and web-based technologies, including set up and management of programmatic platforms (e.g. DMP, DSP, DCO)
• Excellent analytical, data driven strategy, and project management skills.
• Experience using DynamicSignal is a plus
• Experience in running Social Media for B2B is a plus
