Houzz is looking for a support-focused pro to join the IT team (hIT). We’re continuing to build hIT and you would be a major player in growing our team and elevating the organization. hIT plays a key role in enabling our employees to innovate and operate at their peak potential. You will improve the front-line user experience by providing on-demand user support for Houzzers and their tools and apps, while also contributing to longer-term projects. This role is full-time based in our Palo Alto office.
Responsibilities
• You’ll provide “above and beyond” support for Houzzers, helping them resolve problems with IT, desktop, AV and communications systems.
• Develop and maintain a sense of ownership as it relates to the effective use of technology.
• Provide an exceptional level of support through a high degree of flexibility and contextual understanding.
• Keep current with the latest technologies and best practices with regards to IT support and operations.
• Build and maintain a trust between Houzzers, teams/organizations, and IT that extends through and beyond the IT organization.
Required Skills & Experience
• 3+ years of experience providing hands-on support with a variety of end-user devices such as Apple desktops and laptops, smartphones, video conferencing, printers, etc.
• Experience making complex technologies feel simpleExperience developing, documenting and communicating support-focused processes in collaboration with other teams.
• Experience with hosted applications (e.g. G Suite, MS Office, Adobe, etc.) as well as training and supporting employees on their use.
• Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP).
• Ability to lift 40+ lbs.
Ideally, you’ll also have...
• Experience in heterogeneous OS environments (OS X, Windows, Linux) is a plus.
• Experience supporting C-level executives.
• Infra experience (on-prem & Cloud).
• The ability to read/understand and write shell scripts.
• Basic knowledge of Active Directory.
• A strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while meeting demanding deadlines.
• Outstanding and effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• The ability to work effectively with other Houzzers around the world.
