DESCRIPTION
The Business, Industrial & Scientific Supplies (BISS) team at Amazon is looking for an enthusiastic and self-driven Senior Vendor Manager who will be responsible for managing and expanding the Fasteners category. The Senior. Vendor Manager will be responsible for the high-visibility Fasteners business (Nuts, Bolts, Screws, Installation Tools etc.) and will be accountable for setting a strategy for the business and delivering results, while ensuring operational excellence.This leader will be adept at creating win-win relationships and an outstanding customer experience, and will love delivering big results. The ideal candidate will be experienced in C-level negotiations and sales best practices, and also have the analytical mind to understand and drive key performance metrics and input and output goals. This is a highly visible role within the company and this leader will be experienced in gaining buying from senior stakeholders to drive the right result for Amazon customers and our vendor partners. This person will be responsible for driving the top and bottom lines of the product category, expanding selection by building vendor relationships, identify areas for category expansion, support multiple stakeholder teams across different functional areas on milestones committed to senior leadership, negotiating payment terms/coop/pricing, planning marketing promotions, and driving better product availability through operational improvements.
The candidate should have experience analyzing new business opportunities and building strong relationships, driving significant top and bottom line results, and be comfortable managing multiple responsibilities within a fast-paced environment. This candidate must be highly organized and be able to prioritize effectively. The candidate must also possess strong analytical acumen and be comfortable drawing metric-based conclusions by managing an extensive amount of data. The successful candidate possesses superb business judgment, with a track record of successful relationship management, and strong analytical acumen, with experience generating and managing reports and analyses. The position requires an individual who can work autonomously in a highly demanding and often ambiguous environment, with strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES: .
CUSTOMER FOCUS
• Evaluates products and services to continually drive quality of customer experience
• Aggregates and escalates industry trends; ensures team prioritizes customer obsession
• Identifies opportunities to differentiate our customer experience from the competition
STRATEGY
• Develops long-term strategies and significantly influences cross-category buying processes and standards as well as cross-category vendor negotiations
• Develops and implements action plans based on deep-dive analysis of product line metrics
• Provides recommendation on business opportunities and long-term strategy for multiple sub-categories
VENDOR MANAGEMENT
• Expands current vendor selection and secures new brand selection for multiple subcategories
• Focuses on strategic holdout or challenging vendors to increase category selection
• Drives strategic negotiations to deliver top- and bottom-line category growth
• Builds long-term relationships by creating value, opportunities for growth, customer acquisition, and brand-building for multiple vendors
• Increases vendor participation through deep knowledge of program opportunities
BUSINESS OPERATIONS
• Dives deep into inputs and understands the downstream impact of changes to pricing, selection, and convenience for multiple subcategories.
• Owns the Retail P & L for multiple subcategories; develops plans that drive revenue and margin improvement for the business
• Creates strategic and prioritized vendor marketing plan that maximizes margin dollars and customer experience
• Audits all elements of multiple subcategory businesses
• Identifies areas that need vendor attention and directs team to address issues; acts as escalation point, helping team and vendor(s) resolve conflicts * Identifies scalable changes to the category that automate the product lifecycle management process
• Works with internal technical, cross-category, and tech teams to drive multi-system process changes
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree
• Professional experience influencing internal and external stakeholders
• Proficiency with SQL and Excel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Statistics, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, or Engineering
• MBA Preferred
• Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects - prioritization, planning and task delegation
• Ability to think both strategically and tactically with strong attention to detail in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
• Supply chain, inventory management, finance, vendor and/or project management experience
• Proven ability to manage large and complicated projects with experience leading cross-functional projects and teams
• Demonstrated experience and proficiency in effective communication of goals and strategies across multiple leadership levels of an organization
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong proficiency in analysis tools including Microsoft Excel, SQL, and statistics software
• e-Commerce experience a plus
