The Director of Project Management, Business Systems will build a project management office to scale with a rapidly growing global organization. They will be responsible for managing and coordinating project and program management services across Business Systems. The role interacts with functional business unit leadership to craft a project management strategy and processes that align with business objectives and priorities. The role is also responsible for developing robust yet nimble project and program systems for use throughout the organization to drive effective delivery.
The ideal candidate will have functional and technical experience and will be an expert in project management systems including Jira and the ecosystem of competitors and add-ons, as well as ERP or HCM tools. They will drive high velocity change and make project management a competitive advantage for WeWork.
Primary Responsibilities
• Manages a portfolio of project and program management services (project analysis, project execution, project delivery) for the Business Systems Organization
• Ensures adoption and implementation of project and program management methodologies, including both agile and waterfall, and oversees project and program management coaching.
• Defines principles and standards to harmonize project management methodologies from third party or external service providers
• Drives system requirements for world-class Business Systems implementations
• Ensures that investments and initiatives in project management services are aligned with business strategy and priorities
• Collaborates with finance, business unit leaders to develop and manage project and program budgeting and cost estimation approaches, project forecasting, resource allocation, and re-allocations
• Prioritizes programs and projects based on changing functional needs, resource capacity constraints, risk exposure, and interdependencies
• Monitors value metrics to make informed decisions that maximize returns across enterprise projects and programs
• Monitors the delivery of business objectives and client experience for Project Management services
• Engages with cross-functional business leaders to objectively analyze the organization’s ability to absorb change and adopt project and programs post-deployment
• Communicates status of the project and program portfolio to all stakeholders in business units and head of integrated services group
Job Requirements
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels
• Fosters and builds a collaborative working relationship with various stakeholders
• Must be willing to challenge business partners to better understand their needs
• Ability to challenge the various stakeholders involved in a project
• Expert in IT financial management and organizational change management
• Strong leader with executive presence and experience leading high performing teams
• Working knowledge of risk management, as well as standards and policies formulation
• Understanding of SaaS configuration workflows, Agile development methodologies, DevOps patterns, and able to translate the concepts to events planning, business projects and sales/marketing.
• Hands-on experience in project/portfolio resource planning, reporting, prioritization, and budgeting
• Experience leading projects and programs within and outside IT, as well as projects and programs that involve external providers
• More than 10 years of project and program management experience
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, business, or a related discipline
• PMP/PMI certified or related certifications a plus
