We are seeking a results driven, experienced, Vice President of Marketing to define and lead the vision, strategy, and execution for two discrete global marketing functions in our Media Division. This person will be Akamai’s voice for product marketing, buyer persona, positioning and market analysis for Akamai's complete service portfolio to internal and external audiences including customers, sales, industry and financial analysts and the public media. Additionally, this leader will be the conduit to our corporate marketing functions, ensuring alignment of strategies and field marketing execution. You will have an opportunity to create new markets for our Media products and partner with some of the largest customer brands in the market today. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, driven marketer who has a passion for the media space.
About the Team
The role will report directly to the Vice President of Products and Operations, and work closely with product management, business development, operations and sales to ensure the proper strategies and offerings create the right traction in target markets. This position will be leading a growing high performing team of marketing professionals, while working alongside an experienced global team in a centralized corporate marketing function.
The Media Division is responsible for the creation and sale of Akamai services related to the large-scale distribution of video, music, and software that are sold to major media companies. This team supports customers with their over-the-top (OTT) video, live events, and streaming video optimization requirements through the operation of a global, highly-scalable platform for content ingestion and transformation, storage, and high quality media delivery.
Responsibilities
• Create industry specific and cross industry solution content and messaging for global use across the entire solution portfolio
• Define industry aligned persona and positioning documents for buyers and users
• Identify industry specific requirements to influence product strategy and roadmap
• Support Sales with thought leadership along with event, AR & PR support
• Partner with Sales Enablement to create and deliver industry specific trainings for a worldwide sales team
• Develop an industry target account plan with a set of metrics to track adoption of Akamai services
• Establish industry aligned programs to be leveraged on a global scale for generating market awareness and lead generation
• Build a high performing team to help advance Akamai in established verticals while providing new strategies and tactics to enter emerging areas
• Maintain relevant product marketing assets
• Lead and develop a global team of industry and product marketing professionals
• Partner with the corporate marketing team to ensure strategic alignment and budget tracking between industry marketing, product marketing, field marketing, campaign strategy, product, and sales.
Required Education and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
• 15 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent or
• 12 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree or
• 10 years of relevant experience and a PhD
Additional Skills Required
• 15+ years of Marketing experience with 5+ years in a Product Marketing or Industry Marketing role.
• 10+ years of experience working with internet-related technologies or equivalent experience
• 5+ years leading a high impact marketing organization with experience developing impactful content, messaging and effective marketing campaigns.
• Global experience with a preference for folks who have lived abroad outside the U.S.
• A proven history of growing revenue thru Industry and/or Partner Marketing for both new and mature product lines.
• Professional and relevant experience with online video customers or end users
• Ability to “see around corners” to anticipate future trends, new market transitions, and incorporate customer feedback that enables long-term business success. Ability to translate business objectives and priorities into functional goals and measurement, translate strategy into actionable plans and gain adoption.

• Industry specific knowledge in the areas of eCommerce, High-Tech, Financial Services, Healthcare, Manufacturing with a propensity to quickly learn new industries

• An understanding of web performance, cloud security, cloud compute, mobile and IoT technologies
