The Strategic Global Initiatives (SGI) function is responsible for leading the development of the required infrastructure to enable Expedia’s global expansion efforts. One of Expedia’s top corporate priorities is to continue growing internationally, particularly in emerging markets, and this position will be at the center of driving and supporting these efforts.
The SGI Tax Senior Director will lead the SGI Tax function globally and will be responsible for championing SGI tax strategy across all tax disciplines, including, international tax, indirect tax and transfer pricing disciplines. The SGI Tax Senior Director will collaborate with stakeholders across the Expedia business to develop and execute all aspects of setting, implementing, maintaining, and defending the tax strategy and operations required to facilitate Expedia’s global expansion efforts.
This position will have regular interaction with key leaders and is a great opportunity to work at the heart of a global ecommerce business. Further, this role will offer significant cross-functional collaboration and partnership opportunities across the tax leadership team.
Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Providing senior level tax leadership to SGI tax team members, including setting response strategy and team development
• Partnering cross-functionally with tax and business stakeholders (business, finance, legal, accounting, etc.) to develop holistic tax strategies
• Developing and delivering holistic tax strategies and policies in partnership with transfer pricing, international tax and indirect tax to support global business expansion
• Assessing alternative approaches for international expansion under SGI umbrella and provide stakeholders recommendations on strategy considering complexity on a variety of fronts including business process and administrative complexity
• Executive level communication of project plans, milestones and RACI to broad stakeholder group, including tax leadership team
• Ensuring that all tax frameworks are properly included in the analysis including close collaboration with other tax disciplines
• Ensuring that post-implementation processes and controls are executed in accordance with plan of record
• Developing scalable processes and methodologies to evaluate new market and to execute repeatable implementation planes
• Researching tax issues and considerations
• Tax controversy strategy and audit management
• Managing and working with outside advisors
Qualifications:
• 15+ years of tax experience in public accounting, equivalent consulting or industry experience
• BA or BS in Finance, Tax, Business, Accounting; advanced degree preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and overall abilities to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and partner well with people at all levels within an organization
• Detail-oriented individual who is self-motivated and takes ownership of projects
• Strong research, analytical, organizational and presentation skills
• Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
• Capable of working in a fast-paced, team-oriented, rapidly-changing, and high-growth organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously
