It is powered by the Air Technology Team which spans a number of locations in the US, Mexico, Australia and India.
As a Director of Technology on this team, you will work closely with Product, Strategy, UX teams and utilize your creativity and technical skills to design features which form the future of flight shopping user experience. You will closely work with the Air leadership team to set direction for our next generation UI as we continue our deliver our best flights content to our customers instantly
In this role, you will be managing a diverse group of technology functions through multiple subordinate managers in support of a brand or function.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• You will lead a mid-sized team through subordinate managers and direct reports who support technology needs for Air team.
• Manage multiple concurrent, complex, and/or unique projects and initiatives.
• Interact with direct reports, peers in management, and customers to share information, provide recommendations on strategic and operational initiatives, and improve cross-departmental processes.
• You will make recommendations to functional leadership on operational policies and processes and allocates resources to meet the work needs over the next 12 months.
• Provide planning support for a 1 - 2 year view on technology and/or operational strategies for business unit(s) supported.
• Ensure the ongoing training and development of direct reports.
REQUIREMENTS:
• BS in Computer Science or a related engineering field, MS preferred.
• Progressively responsible technology management experience in an ecommerce organization, including management of high-performing teams.
• Deep technical expertise in one or more areas of technology.
• Consistent track record of delivering and operating large-sized internet-scale software systems.
• Ability to balance priorities from customers, suppliers and business owners in the overall Expedia travel space.
• Demonstrated success leading remote project teams
• Ability to work independently.
• Activities generally impact important components and/or processes of the work of own unit, team, and/or projects.
• Typically assigned to important and/or complicated undertakings.
• Outcomes directed have moderate short- and long-term impact in terms of technology direction, functionality and associated technology expense.
• Experience with front-end frameworks and technologies such as JavaScript, JQuery,
• Experience working on dynamic web applications and working on eCommerce applications.
