Finance Director – Hotels.com Global Brand & Marketing Optimization
Position Overview
The Hotels.com team at Expedia Inc. has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Director to join the Hotels.com Finance team.
A key role in the Hotels.com Finance team, this position will partner with the Global Brand, Analytics & Regional / Channel Finance teams with responsibility for delivery of high quality financial reporting, analytical insight, post spend investment appraisal, planning and forecasting – providing transparency in performance and supporting optimal decision making to drive maximum value and profitability.
Reporting to the CFO – Hotels.com, the role is based in Dallas and will have one direct report.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
Partner with the Global Brand and Advanced Analytics teams to develop insight and intelligence on Brand impact and effectiveness, including the linkage between Brand spend and business performance, the development of Brand investment business cases (and strategy) and robust post spend analysis.
Ownership of the Brand spend approval process for Finance, co-ordinate with regional Brand teams to ensure all spends are proposed for approval in a timely manner with decisions communicated to appropriate audience.
Lead ongoing financial planning process for Brand, PR and Social, including the annual and quarterly multi-year financial planning cycles; weekly, monthly and quarterly management reporting; and the administration and enhancements of the reporting and planning applications used by the team.
Oversee Direct Trading analyses and deep dives (in collaboration with analytics and business teams) to improve the collective understanding of risks and opportunities. Ensure latest insight is reflected in bi-weekly Outlook and communicated appropriately (Trading meetings/updates).
Own the Marketing spend allocation (previously ‘Investment’) process for all channels, including clear communication of timelines, agreed approvals and criteria / feedback on decisions (including drive for more data driven selection process). Ensure the business has an up to date list of prioritized marketing spend plans (that will be deployed should additional funds become available).
Finance lead for Multi Touch Attribution project (partnering with analytics), build understanding of rollout impact (by channel), implications for reporting and forecasting and impact on business operations.
Contribute to the preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly results reporting packages, as well as quarterly forecast reporting packages, including specific monthly and quarterly analyses of Direct, PR and Social results.
Support the CFO and HLT with tactical and strategic business initiatives, including building out business cases and presentations (working collaboratively cross-functionally and with geographically dispersed teams). Communicate complex and technical analysis to non-technical and senior stakeholders to help support optimal decision making.
Demonstrate proven leadership abilities in building and maintaining high performing teams. Act as an agent of change encouraging innovation and progress with business processes and analyses. Attract and develop talent, and act as a coach for team members, providing constructive feedback to help employees improve their skills set and advance their career. Ensure team have clear agile priorities and roadmaps.
Requirement / Qualifications:
• Relevant graduate degree, MBA, or Accounting designations
• Significant industry experience managing reporting, providing analysis and insights to leadership teams in a fast paced entrepreneurial environment, ideally in an FP&A role
• Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and influencing skills, written and oral
• Ability to multi-task and deliver under pressure
• Strong business acumen and interest for business process improvement
• In-depth experience with our suite of financial systems and tools: Oracle ERP; Hyperion Planning/Essbase; MS Office; BI tools a plus.
