Fodor’s seeks a Director of Content Operations to lead our Production, Design, and Content Management teams. This is an exciting opportunity for a proven leader in the book or content publishing industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of book publishing processes, and successful track record leading and developing teams as well as experience setting and implementing strategies for further improvement. This candidate will be a key member of the Travel management team working closely with the editorial/content, business, and tech teams. This position reports to the Vice President, Travel for Internet Brands.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage Production, Design, and Content Management teams to meeting all book production and sales deadlines.
• Manage production of print and digital products including freelance copyeditors, proofreaders, and indexers.
• Oversee print and digital production master calendar in collaboration with Editorial.
• Lead art/design and photography team.
• Manage Fodor’s Content Management System including meta data cleanup and optimization.
• Recommend solutions to increase throughput and productivity while maintaining high quality standards.
• Define and drive overall vision for the Fodor’s Content Management System, collaborating with vendors and key stakeholders to optimize our system for various publication channels (print, web, apps, and licensing partnerships) and to support growing content management needs.
• Support and optimize all operations downstream from content production including:
• Working closely with Fodor’s book sales and distribution partner to grow sales, creating and optimizing book meta data.
• Managing book inventory levels minimizing overall costs.
• Managing day to day coordination with printing partners.
• 10-25% travel to New York is required.
Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree and 10+ years of operational experience ideally in book publishing or media industry.
• Proven track record with success leading through change.
• Excellent leadership skills and ability to work well with offsite teams.
• Ability to communicate, interact with and deliver on multiple priorities in a very fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work, coordinate, and influence cross-functional teams.
