Lending Club is looking to hire a Fund Finance Director to be a part of the Finance team responsible for LCA, Lending Club’s wholly own registered investment advisor. This individual will be responsible for working with Fund Accounting, FP&A, Portfolio Management, Valuation, Operations, Compliance and Treasury teams to coordinate all information reported to LCA management and the governing board of LCA funds. In addition, the role envisions the Fund Finance Director leading and managing the recording, documentation and maintenance of daily and monthly records of Company-managed investment funds. The individual will also be responsible for managing Investment funds transactions which includes partner’ capital subscriptions/contributions/distributions/withdrawals and securities purchases. Finally, the role also requires leadership, expertise and proven initiative execution ability to identify and resolve fund finance issues to ensure smooth running of the business operations. An ability to partner with LCA business executives and provide finance related advisory support regarding new business initiatives is strongly desired.
Job Description:
• Manage day to day fund activities including performance, analytics, modeling & forecasting
• Partner with Finance Business Partners and FP&A to provide guidance related to fees, performance, & activities
• Report to Investor Group CFO and present deep dive fund analytics to LCA business executives and the Governing Board of LCA funds
• Manage the balancing and reconciliation of cash, securities purchased, partners’ capital subscriptions and partners’ capital balances and activities recorded on the Funds account statements, bank records, accounting workbooks and the general ledger
• Manage the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statement closings for the Funds
• Update and document the recurring and periodic analyses of estimated fair values of Funds securities, monthly Fund returns, analysis of actual versus expected charge-offs, delinquent securities, securities prepayments, and other analyses as warranted
• Coordinate and support the analysis, implementation and operation of new and revised investment funds, joint ventures and related programs
• Assess and identify personnel and systems resource requirements, process/procedural workflow across departments, internal controls and reporting requirements as warranted
• Leverage broad expertise in investment funds and finance to inform and support business decisions and identify solutions that allow business to meet its growth objectives
• Lead and drive projects focused on enhancing operational efficiencies as well as company-wide initiatives
Requirements:
• 10+ years’ experience in fixed income security accounting or fixed income investment fund accounting, including fair valuation of fixed income securities, in an investment management company, mutual fund company, the Investment/Treasury/Trading area of a bank, savings institution, or comparable financial services company (Fund Management background highly desirable)
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related Business discipline preferred. CPA, CFA and/or Master’s Degree in a Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline a significant, or equivalent work experience
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles for fixed income securities purchases, payments and valuations; familiarity with partnership accounting and taxation a plus
• Ability to identify problems/discrepancies, independently perform research/analysis of causes and recommend corrective actions
• Ability to verbally communicate clearly and precisely on technical/specific topics
• Experienced and effective skills to organize unit activities, manage staff and coordinate with executives, managers and staff of other units and departments.
• Must be self-directed, able to work independently, as well as work in a team-oriented and fast paced environment; proven flexibility between leading and giving direction as well as willing to “roll-up sleeves” to get the initiative done
• Strong initiative and demonstrated ability to be flexible, adaptive and agile Upper-intermediate skills with Excel required
• Expertise in Financial/DCF Modeling
• QL and Python preferred
