The Director, Short Content will be responsible for developing the short form content business in the UK, from go-to-market strategy through evolving business needs, reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing.
The successful candidate will be skilled at identifying new audiences and opportunities and developing product, marketing and operational programmes from the ground up to identify and exceed customers’ expectations. S/he has a keen eye for identifying new opportunities and trends relating to digital content and pursuing them. S/he will be able to work across multiple teams and use first-rate communication and persuasion skills to influence all levels of the organization. S/he will be highly motivated, skilled at managing risk and have a strong affinity to digital content and technology. Leading a cross-functional team, S/he will take overall operational leadership for Short Content in the UK across all surfaces, cementing Audible’s position as the world’s greatest audio entertainment service, offering ‘best in show’ programmes from comedy to drama, documentaries to talk shows.
The position’s critical responsibilities include:
• Own our short-form content business, including its financial and strategic outcomes
• Responsible for content curation, programming, merchandising and marketing
• Close collaboration with the Product Marketing team to define and deliver the go-to-market strategy for short content in the UK including audience sizing and identification and feature development
• Ownership of key business metrics, and tactics to influence them
• Coordination with cross-functional teams in the Audible Premium business, to monitor the impact of short-form content against core business metrics
• Creation & implementation of sustainable business processes
• Close collaboration with content production and acquisition teams in order to develop a compelling and disruptive content portfolio.
• Act as the UK customer champion, understanding their desires and needs and delivering a product that more than exceeds their expectations
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• 10+ years of experience in a product or marketing role
• Experience in generating awareness and acquiring new customers in a new market segment
• Strong knowledge of a wide variety of marketing techniques
• Proven ability to lead high performing teams both directly and indirectly through influence
• Strong bias for action and willingness to roll up sleeves and get things done
• Data-orientated with excellent analytical skills and ability to generate and quickly execute upon actionable recommendations based on the synthesis and analyses of data
• Natural ability to focus on big ideas that drive significant change but enjoys diving deep into the details.
• Excellent understanding of how to optimize customer journeys online and in-app
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s in Business Administration.
• Experience with membership based business models, including terms such as CPA, LTV, Churn, conversion rate, acquisition funnel etc.
• Experience with a mobile first / app-centred company.
• Passion for books and / or audio entertainment
• Entrepreneurial spirit / ability to try different things with minimal direction
• Established track record of creativity and innovation
