Major Responsibilities
The Director, Strategy and Planning will own the business forecasting and planning of sales that drive increased sales & revenue in a multi-market sales environment. S/he will play a critical role in leading the development and execution of key initiatives that deliver measurable business results (e.g. revenue growth, new customer acquisition) to help Gilt City achieve its growth targets. S/he will work very closely with Gilt City’s Executive team to brainstorm and identify those initiatives, measure the impact, and lead select initiatives. This role will have high visibility to HBC’s executive and internal cross-functional leaders, as well as external vendors and strategic partners. This position has people management responsibility with the opportunity to oversee the development of 3-4 direct reports.
Role responsibilities include:
1. Deliver sales strategy and provide direction through analysis and understanding of multiple influencers that impact sales including customer shopping preferences and purchase behavior
2. Provide insight and guidance on optimal sales mix, pricing, categories and vendors to drive overall company revenue and member acquisition
3. Lead and develop team of analysts, ensuring strong partnership and guidance with sales teams
4. Review weekly business reports to identify key issues and identify short, mid and long-term corrective actions.
5. Own/co-lead broader strategic initiatives, including geographic growth, new revenue streams and establishing strategic partnerships
6. Work closely with Gilt City’s General Manager and Head of Sales to outline goals/targets for the sales team across multiple markets at the beginning of each quarter.
7. Work closely with Finance to understand the impact of the revenue forecast on the P&L
8. Analyze the competitive landscape and identify opportunities for Gilt City to further distinguish its offering
9. Assess company strengths and weaknesses in the market, determine what can addressed and how, and champion internally to affect change in product, positioning, pricing, packaging, etc.
10. Using all data and resources available, facilitate and promulgate a shared understanding of the whole picture to develop optimal plans to drive success.
Personal Characteristics
The successful candidate will be a highly analytical individual with a meticulous attention to detail and a sophisticated understanding of business and planning process. He/she must be a strong leader able to drive change in the organization and influence decisions and strategy. This individual is self-motivated, nimble, and solution-driven and will proactively identify and remove roadblocks.
Professional Qualifications
• 8+ years minimum experience in Planning, Finance, Strategy, or Consulting
• Experience managing a team of 2 – 4 employees
• Mastery of Excel. Strong PowerPoint skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable presenting to top executives
• Educational CredentialsBachelor’s degree in Business or another quantitative field. MBA preferred
