DESCRIPTION
Day One (D1) the internal creative agency setting design and brand direction for Amazon’s global brand and online retail websites. Our mission is to be the most customer-centric collective of creative thinkers, dreamers and doers. This manifests itself through visual design, branding, photography, video, and user experience design. We are responsible for branding and the creative development of style guides for a wide range of services, features, and categories (Books, Movies, Music, Video Games, Electronics, Beauty, and many more) for the Amazon retail sites in North America. We apply strategic insight to delight customers - driving discovery, engagement, and trust. We’re growing quickly and hiring the best. This is day one.
Who You Are
You are an experienced art director who has successfully demonstrated taking business goals and turning them into inspiring world-class designs. You understand the complexity of marketing and know how to set the visual standard for different categories. You have strong organizational skills, web expertise, intrinsic design ability, typographic skills, and acute attention to detail. You're driven to tell brand stories that connect with customers across a variety of industries.
Responsibilities
• Develop and strengthen brand assets, including style and usage guides, and collaborate with the design community to ensure consistent use
• Hire and develop production designers and contractors on the team
• Enhance the team knowledge of best design practices and trends in digital and brand design
• Work with the Consumables/CPG retail cateogries
• Present design solutions to executive managers and get sign-offs
• Understand and respond to promotion performance data (metric tests, usability studies), and steer the direction of future creative designs

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating visual branding, online marketing, and great user-centered design solutions
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with an agency or creative team
• Experience with design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
• 6+ years experiences in web design and digital marketing
• Bachelor's degree in design or equivalent professional experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience defining or maintaining a design style guide or branding guidelines
• Experience in photo art direction for CPG products
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to gracefully defend your design decisions to executive management
• Experience in photo art direction and managing photo shoots
• Illustration experience
• Knowledge of information architecture, usability, and UI Design
