Position Summary
Works with Claims organization personnel to identify informational needs of the Home Office, Field Offices and Agents. Responsible for data consolidation, analysis and management reporting. Utilizes software to generate metrics and develops actionable recommendations. Designs, develops and modifies reports then performs analysis and validation of the data. Provides support to research team or management by collecting and analyzing data and reporting results. Assists other department personnel in the completion of projects.
Candidates with above minimum qualifications may be considered for Claims Information Analyst II (D10).
Duties and Responsibilities
Sources or compiles production data for analysis to improve claims operations and initiatives. Supports the planning, development, coordination, communication, implementation and reporting of all Claims company, state and branches with associated metrics, measurements and targets.
Evaluates requests for claims data and management reports. Gathers, coordinates and analyzes business requirements for information requests, including data and report requests for simple to moderate applications. Makes recommendations for improvements to reports as appropriate.
Designs, tests and modifies simple to moderate Business Intelligence and Operational reports. Prepares ad hoc and re-occurring reports using report-generation software. Maintains or updates business intelligence tools, databases, dashboards, reports, systems and methods. Gathers, organizes, updates, automates and publishes key division metric reports. Responds to external inquiries regarding claims information surveys. Compiles information from various sources and with mentorship prepares materials.
Assists with the interpretation of complex data in order to provide supervisors and managers with information on occurrences within the company. Assists with the design production and analysis of reports, metrics and dashboards.
Performs or coordinates user acceptance testing related to system changes or enhancements as required. Participates in the testing and validation of current/new data interface files to data warehouses/universe(s). Participates in planning, communication and training users regarding routine system updates or procedural changes.
Implements, monitors and maintains database security. Monitors, maintains, certifies and implements user access as necessary. Participates in system security audits as required. Oversees third party product administration.
Participates in division projects to produce measurable results. Provides cost effective support and advisory assistance to division management related to critical initiatives and business processes. Researches and recommends best practices as appropriate to enhance capabilities and create efficiencies.
Acts as an SME for claims data and business rules throughout the organization. Completes special projects and research as required.
Works collaboratively with IT to design universes and/or a data warehouse that meet the needs of the business and creates quality and consistency of reporting across multiple areas.
Coordinates adjuster-licensing functions with field offices. Maintains records related to licensing, researches licensing issues and prepares related correspondence to state insurance departments.
Assists with building and maintaining reporting inventory of key data elements, reports, distribution information and other significant information.

Qualifications
Minimum Required Education Equivalents Bachelor's degree (preferably in mathematics, marketing, finance, business, computer science); or Associate degree (preferably in mathematics, marketing, finance, business, computer science) and two years' experience in reporting, measuring and data analysis; or High School diploma or GED and four years' experience in reporting, measuring and data analysis, required Proficiency with database and spreadsheet software required. Proficiency with SAS programming language, or related programming language, preferred. Proficiency with Business Objects or other business intelligence tool required. Working knowledge of business intelligence, data warehouse and data management concepts preferred. Completion of insurance education coursework preferred. Willingness to enroll in insurance education courses, industry or technology related education and/or other advanced education required. Some general insurance or financial services background preferred. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
