Position Overview
The Financial Reporting and Accounting Policy Analyst is responsible for assisting in the preparation and review of the Company’s SEC filings, as well as filings with other regulatory bodies, and internal reporting and presentations. This position also assists in technical accounting research. As a member of RGA’s SEC Reporting and Accounting Policy Group, this position participates in a collaborative, team-based environment. This position works under the direction of the Executive Director and has frequent interaction with other members of the Company’s Global Finance Team and other departments throughout the Company.
Responsibilities
• Assists in preparing the Company’s SEC filings and separate company financial statements, and local statutory and regulatory reporting.
• Performs accounting, reporting and analysis of the Company’s employee benefit plans and serves as a liaison across legal entities and segments in support of local reporting and disclosures.
• Assists the Company’s GAAP Policy Group in the research and preparation of accounting policies for newly issued US GAAP standards.
• Monitors and settles intercompany transactions and works with segment accountants to ensure the propriety of intercompany transactions and that intercompany transactions are appropriately eliminated upon consolidation.
• Assists in the preparation of Regulatory filings
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
• 5-8 years combined accounting/auditing experience
Preferred:
• CPA
• Public accounting experience
• Policy research and drafting experience
• Insurance auditing / accounting experience
• Masters in Accounting
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Required:
• Basic Word and Intermediate Excel skills.
• Advanced knowledge of US GAAP accounting, and finance theory, application and financial reporting.
• Advanced oral and written communication and organization skills.
• Must be flexible and adaptive to change.
• Takes initiative and is accountable.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and deliverables.
• Complex investigative, analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to share and impart knowledge.
• Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives.
