Description
Job Summary
The Digital Portfolio Manager is responsible for the administration of all small projects across the Digital Portfolio. Under technical direction, the role will plan and lead less complex IT projects or a phase within a larger project. The position works with the client team to lead project objectives, coordinate tasks, manage project plans and evaluate project process. The role maintains working relationships with client functional areas outside of IT.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
1. Works with client management and project team to identify and meet project objectives.
2. Coordinates schedules and assigns project tasks.
3. Reviews, evaluates and formulates project plans, schedules and allocates staff and budget resources. Typical project budget: up to $500,000.
4. Evaluates and reports progress in terms of project process quality and performance metrics.
5. Uses appropriate systems development methodologies to structure and organize the tasks to be completed by the team.
6. Monitors and reports project status using established metrics against the plan.
7. Provides input on performance of team members and may provide feedback.
8. Stays up to date on trends and developments within functional area of expertise and insurance industry.
9. Leads reoccurring portfolio meetings to provide status, obtain approvals, raise issue awareness, convey key messages, etc.
10. Prioritizes projects through the process and methods used to identify which projects IT should be working on
11. Leads the work intake process to obtain the necessary approvals for work to begin on a project (Business Review, IT Review, and Portfolio Review)
12. Accountable for tracking, updating and reporting out on portfolio and project financials. In addition, annual financial planning.
13. Manages project risks, issues and changes (scope, schedule, budget).
14. Accountable for project tracking and data quality to ensure projects are progressing as planned and the data fed from source systems is accurate so each project is being reflected correctly in reports distributed by the metrics and reporting team
15. Supports the release process
1. Deployment planning/preparation
2. Post deployment support
3. Facilitation of after action reviews
16. Uses the tools and reports which are being used to manage the small project space
17. Works as point of escalation for questions regarding the small project processes
18. Assists with Demand Management activities
19. Works as point of contact for SOX audit questions
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationship
Manager or above
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. Strong analytical and organization skills.
2. Developing project management knowledge and ability to apply project development methodologies, reporting techniques, and measurement techniques.
3. A broad knowledge of the system development life cycle, and system and application program development technological alternatives.
4. Understanding of Agile Scrum methodology.
5. Strong knowledge of client area's functions and systems.
6. Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal and consultative skills to work effectively with clients, peers, and IT management and staff.
7. Understanding of team leadership and able to foster working relationships with the team and client departments.
8. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office suite and other business related software systems.
9. Demonstrates ownership of assignments until complete and issues until resolved.
10. Ability to ensure consistent practice of current processes, identify opportunity areas and implement improvements.
11. Desired experience in updating and managing project status in project database and financials in P6
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
2. Typically a minimum of four years related experience as an IT project team member with previous project leadership preferred.
3. Applicable certifications preferred.
