Job Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

The main function of this position will be to execute and carry out the duties of Accounts Payable
Accounts Payable:
• Have general knowledge of our chart of accounts and how to apply information to invoices to ensure proper coding.
• Set up initial AR file containing billing parameters.
• Review bills prior to mailing to ensure that all charges have been posted and that back-up for all charges is available.
• Establish and maintain a close relationship with the various departments who have input for the AR billing to ensure accuracy and completeness. These departments are primarily reservations, sales, conference services and food & beverage.
• Maintain established timelines for processing and mailing statements.
• Make collection calls as needed.
• Track for further action cancellations and/or guarantee shortfalls.
• Respond to customer billing inquiries efficiently and courteously.
• Cross train to other positions within the accounting department.
• Maintain AR reports.
• Maintain files in a neat and orderly fashion.
• Provide assistance in other job classifications as determined necessary by immediate superior.
General Cashier:
• Ensure that daily deposits are completed and balanced.
• Manage cashier banks including reconciliation prior to return and regular audits to maintain correct bank levels at all times.
• Report and follow up on all cashier overages and shortages.
• Ensure copies of bank contracts are on file and accurate.
• Maintain house bank spreadsheets to control accuracy.
General Requirements:
• Must be able to maintain accuracy and knowledge in position.
• Must have general accounting knowledge and be able to confidently assist staff in other departments with training on proper accounting procedures.
• Cross train to accounts receivable, income audit, assist with month end procedures within the accounting department.
• Confidently assist external guests with questions.
• Fulfill all duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Accounting Manager.
• Willingness to participate and contribute to accounting department.
• Carry out the policies and procedures of Stonewall Resort and Benchmark Hospitality International while maintaining the highest degree of professionalism and teamwork atmosphere as per standards of service.
• Attend and participate in monthly department meetings.
• Provide assistance in other job classifications as determined necessary by immediate superior.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
High School diploma or GED required
Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school preferred
Two years of payroll processing experience preferred
Sound communication and organizational skills
Problem solving skills with the ability to analyze data and to do a high volume of accurate work
Proficient with computer applications (including Word, Excel, database, e-mail)
Basic math skills including addition and subtraction
Workday experience preferred
Previous experience with Microsoft Word and Excel a must.
