Summary of Position
This EHS Specialist position will be responsible for supporting the facility in developing both tactical and strategic measures to ensure the management of facility maintenance and safety processes. This individual will be an expert in safety, environmental and regulatory compliance. They will support with project management, engineering support, financial management, procurement, and supplier management. The position is responsible for maintaining a safe and compliant work place through adherence to applicable Federal and State Environmental, Health and Safety standards and regulations as well as compliance with internal company and client standards. Develop client relationships with key representatives in supporting client’s corporate real estate goals and objectives.
Essential Duties and Position Responsibilities
• Maintain client satisfaction with delivery of Facility Management services and support programs to increase customer satisfaction
• Support compliance with JLL minimum audit and compliance standards in facility management, financial management and operational policies and procedures
• Meet or exceed site Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s); monitor Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) monthly to identify potential challenges and plan corrective actions accordingly
• Provide support with manufacturing activities including but not limited to:
• Engineering support related to maintenance and repairs of plant equipment and buildings.
• Responsible for coordination and documentation of preventative maintenance on all machinery and buildings.
• Coordinate and support of new vendors tooling, equipment, etc.
• Development and release of all product and process documentation.
• Qualification and validation of all new equipment (IQ/OQ).
• Support activities related to equipment Moves and Installation.
• Responsible for the management of the facility and equipment PM program, including coordination of 3rd party calibration and maintenance services.
• Responsible for chemical management regarding approval/disapproval of all chemicals entering facility, internal storage and usage and maintain all MSDSs and/or SDSs for the facility
• Advises and provides training on safety regulations and regulatory concerns relating to process and equipment design. This includes:
• Lockout Tagout (LOTO)
• Machine Guarding
• Electrical Safety
• Confined Space
• Performs safety risk assessments, regulatory compliance reviews on equipment and process audits
• Maintain all regulatory compliance documentation to ensure accuracy and up to date adherence to set standards. This includes:
• Emergency Evacuation
• Bloodborne Pathogen Training
• Hazardous Communication (HazComm)
• Hearing Conservation Program
• Review and revise existing procedures to maintain compliance with corporate standard procedures.
• Prepare, maintain, and submit all records and reports required by the Company and regulatory agencies e.g. in the USA the OSHA 300 log and injury/illness records.
• Coordinate deployment of environmental procedures
• In the USA, management of Workers' Compensation claims
• Promote hazard identification and make recommendations for corrective actions.
• Partner with internal document control to release revised documentation to employees.
• Complete required filing with state and federal agencies for Tier II reporting, hazardous waste reporting, OSHA required training, recycling reports, etc.
• Participate in internal and external audits.
• Oversee the storage, compliance and disposal of chemicals.
• Manage EH&S and Safety Committee.
• Conduct safety meetings on a Quarterly basis.
• Responsible for ensuring inspection and testing of all fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and eye wash stations, safety showers and other safety equipment.
• Ensure that all facility occupants are familiar with emergency procedures by verifying compliance with training programs.
• Work with Plant Management to ensure compliance with regulating bodies to include: FDA, OSHA, EPA, Corporate, and Divisional procedures, standards, and regulations.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Required
• Bachelor’s Degree (preferably Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Industrial Hygiene) with at least 2 years of EHS manufacturing experience.
• Experience leading, coaching and training in manufacturing organizations.
• Proven Technical abilities and understanding of tooling, equipment, process development and validation.
• Demonstrated technical/professional knowledge and skills in EHS to include local, state, and federal regulations and codes.
• Work with Engineering to provide input during the planning and execution of engineering and new technology applications to ensure that related safeguards are incorporated which meet all applicable regulatory requirements and Company standards.
• Ability to anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices.
• High level of written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• High level of computer skills (Microsoft Office, E-mail, Excel).
• Knowledge of ISO, OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, ANSI and other federal and state regulations.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and regulatory agencies.
• Capability of handling a variety of tasks at the same time.
• Some level of GMP/GLP preferred.
• RCRA / DOT certification for handling hazardous materials.
• Knowledgeable in fire protection systems, emergency response programs, safety committee and audit programs.
