Director -- Consumer Operations, Digital Credit Product Management
Position Description
The role will develop Ally's Auto Finance digital consumer credit products and processes by identifying potential products / features and processes; conducting market research; generating requirements; determining specifications; prioritizing requests; setting timetables for introduction; and creating appropriate performance metrics, all in support of Ally's strategic initiatives. An important role that leads all lifecycle management and product responsibilities for a portfolio of digital transformation-focused initiatives. Will need to step into products already underway, as well as lead and execute new products derived from the overall strategic direction. As a member of the Product Management team, the candidate will guide the success of our products and lead their own team, as well as cross-functional partners, from product conception through to launch, while ensuring proper governance is followed. Expect candidate will ultimately serve as a business expert.
Ally's ability to grow depends on the ability to continuously improve the product line-up against competition. A dedicated and focused professional will measure and monitor Ally product offering effectiveness, review customer data, understand the story behind the numbers, and recommend enhancements / improvements to product offerings based on sound analysis. Candidate is required to respond quickly to business opportunities as they arise while maintaining day-to-day operational activities.
Job Responsibilities
• Own the creative process of generating, developing, gathering, and curating new ideas, as well as recognize and accept ideas from within other parts of the organization
◦ Gain a deep understanding of user experience, identify and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve user experience and drive growth
◦ Spot opportunities by observing dealers, customers, markets, and processes; identifying pain points, and articulating solutions
◦ Assesses market competition and monitor developing trends in auto finance industry to identify opportunities for new products / features
◦ Work with business partners to identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance experience
◦ Ensure requests and feedback are seamlessly integrated into product planning and development processes
• Translate product strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes
◦ Work closely with business partners to ensure requirements are interpreted correctly in detailed user stories and design specifications as product is constructed
◦ Define requirements for each feature and the desired user experience
◦ Build business cases and gain consensus in support of ideas
• Problem-solve relevant issues / concerns
• Build relationships with support functions to collaborate on strategy execution and issue resolution
• Provide project management oversight -- create timelines, follow-up on action items, track progress
• Act as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding
• Develop communications for strategies and initiatives, both internally and externally
• Maintain a dashboard of performance metrics that matter to the health of the product and the business
• Develop subject matter expertise
• Maintain product management team by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
• Maintain product management results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
Education, Certifications, and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in technical or business-related discipline required
• 8 -- 10 years of experience in related fields
• Financial Services, Banking, and/or Auto Industry experience
• Strong knowledge of financial service products and processes preferred, especially indirect auto finance
• Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in product management standards and practices (Agile and Waterfall development) with an understanding of end-to-end product management discipline
• Project Management / Business Analyst Certification (or equivalent work experience) highly preferred
Qualifications
• Proven work experience in product management or as an associate product manager
• Keen ability to spot opportunities
• Familiarity with agile methodology
• Understanding of decision engine functionality
• Familiarity with, or ability to quickly learn, technical aspects of system functionality to facilitate product requirement definition
• Capacity to prioritize projects based on variety of inputs
• Ability to juggle multiple projects at a time, both large and small
• Organized, thorough, and persistent
• Detail-oriented, willing to roll up one's sleeves to get the job done
• Flexible and adaptive to changing situations
• Written and verbal communication skills to articulate complicated operational processes in concise, easy-to-understand manner
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Management experience
• Proven ability to deliver results in a complex matrix environment, including external vendors
• Temperament to forge relationships with various business partners
• Widespread knowledge of auto finance operations, processes, systems, and their inter-relationships
Work Environment
• Location: Lewisville, TX strongly preferred; Detroit, MI or Jacksonville, FL possible for exceptional candidate
• Some travel will be necessary
• Requires flexibility in work schedule; evening hours and weekends may be required
