What will you do and what impact will you have?
Reporting directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer, the Vice President of National Account Group Underwriting will have direct responsibility for the leadership of the National Account (NAO) Underwriting team accountable for groups of 5000+ lives including Associations. As a key member of the leadership team for the business, the Vice President is responsible for driving NAO performance and results, meeting revenue, persistency and profitability targets, delivering on Prudential's Value Proposition, and driving excellence and innovation within the National Account Underwriting team.
The Vice President will be a transformative business leader with a strong track record of success in the Underwriting marketplace.
Strategic and Operational Excellence:
• Financial accountability for the National Account underwriting team and execution of pricing and financial strategies and goals.
• Key contributor to the overall development and implementation of strategy, budgeting, goals, results and staff development
• Drive towards the achievement of the business unit’s multi-year plan objectives, with particular emphasis on the execution of its pricing strategy.
• Develop and implement short and long-range plans that will enhance the operating efficiency and bottom-line accountability within the National Account Underwriting team.
• Lead or contribute to cross-functional projects/key strategic initiatives with focus on pricing execution and setting the strategic direction for the business.
• Contribute strategic ideas and provide resources to support process efficiencies and/or product development.
Reputation:
• Promote a positive image of Prudential by initiating, developing and sustaining effective business relations with all key stakeholders (customers, distribution partners, executive leaders, etc.) in the communities served by the organization.
• Cultivates strategic partnerships with external broker community and collaborates with marketing and field leadership to develop and maintain positive relationships including brand recognition for the organization and its products and ensure the organization excels in meeting the evolving needs of its target customers and core markets.
• Expected to educate, inform and influence leadership in collaboration within GI and other Prudential business units regarding business decisions that affect portfolio and organizational results.
Talent Management and Leadership:
• Accountable for supporting and developing a culture of high performance and talent excellence, through effective recruiting, coaching, mentoring and development as well as through support of diverse talent initiatives.
• Provide the leadership to build and maintain a motivated, productive and competent team through open communication and delegation of responsibilities and authority.
• Serve as a role model and change champion. Develop a strong leadership and Underwriting team to maximize resources and capability to deliver business results.
• Actively engage key stakeholders to proactively support strategies.
Qualifications
The Background & Experience you'll need ...
• Minimum 10 years Group Insurance underwriting/product knowledge
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred; MBA a plus
• Experience leading an Underwriting Operation
• Possess strong business acumen, excellent analytical, problem solving, presentation, collaboration, negotiation, and oral and written communication skills required.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, relationship building, planning and organizational skills
• Resourcefulness, flexibility and creativity
• Ability to generate creative solutions; proactive problem solver
