Description
The research specialist will follow standard procedural guidelines for performing tasks. Responsible for performing analysis on and resolving issues related to disbursements through review of actual checks, reports, and phone or written inquiries. May perform monetary functional transactions such as posting deposits to client servicing system, balancing wire disbursements, sending wire disbursements, or transmitting stop pay requests directly to financial institution bank accounts.
Uses computerized system for tracking, information gathering and / or trouble shooting the items raised by the client / insurance company / customer.
Recognizes consistent problem areas and reports to higher level for action.
Provides assistance and back up as needed to meet client requirements and SLA’s. Handles other duties / projects based on business needs.
Key responsibilities:
• Works under immediate supervision.
• Initially tasks are basic and routine; more experienced associates will perform tasks that are moderate in complexity and often non-routine.
• Initially works in a single client / functional environment due to limited knowledge and skill set. More experienced associates will work in a multi-client or multi-functional environment.
• Researches items received via reports, tasks / client referrals, correspondence, and refund / return checks.
• Makes appropriate telephone calls to resolve issue. Phone calls may be to clients, insurance companies, or customers.
• Follows client’s standard policies and procedures as a guide for accurately applying Check Recon processes.
• At the direction of management, will handle some customer service calls and other temporary assignments. Such assignments may be made with short notice and last for an indefinite period of time.
• Works efficiently in client and company proprietary applications.
• Demonstrates solid technical knowledge and quality performance.
• Meets behavioral expectations: attendance, teamwork, and organizational contributions.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications Required - Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:
• High School diploma or GED

• Knowledge and Skills
• Good verbal / written communication skills
• Solid work quality, accuracy, and proficiency
• Sound analytical skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Solid internal and external communication skills
• General system application and processing knowledge
• Solid customer service skills
• Works well in team environment and as an individual contributor
• Basic to intermediate computer skills, (ability to create and edit spreadsheets and emails)
• Ability to adapt well to change
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:
• Minimum 1 year experience in insurance, banking, finance, mortgage servicing or related experience / education
• Cash handling experience
