Associate Analyst, Data Science
Overview
The mission of the enterprise architecture data science practice is data actualization: the realization of the full potential of information our data contains to help drive revenue and improve operational efficiencies/cost savings. We improve company performance by extracting information from our data with the use of sophisticated mathematical and statistical techniques including AI, machine learning, time-series forecasting, and collaborative filtering.
We are looking for an entry level data scientist who is curious and eager to learn about applying machine learning and AI to our data to help improve productivity and profitability. The person in this role will work closely with senior data scientists and various internal business partners to help solve business problems with the use of AI.
The associate analyst will have an opportunity to learn about various applications of AI and the inner-workings of many operational departments across the company.
Role:
In this role you will responsible for:
• Supporting senior team members on various projects across the organization following our engagement model, the Cross Industry Standard Process for Data Mining.
• Gaining a clear understanding of business operations and data needed to solve problem statements for specific projects.
• Assisting with data pulls, data preparation, model building, and overall execution on projects based on Mastercard operational and transaction data to glean insights.
• Presenting findings to various business partners.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal Mastercard partners.
• Supporting senior team members on R & D projects.
All About You:
• Familiarity with and passion for solving business challenges through data science.
• Ability to think creatively with data.
• Proficient with data visualization and translating complex problems in to actionable insights.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently but with a collaborative nature.
• Experience with Hadoop, R, Python, and SQL.
• Sound understanding of statistical analysis and predictive modeling.
• Ability to pick up new tools and technologies
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Undergraduate degree in mathematics, computer science or related field required.
