The role:
The role reports to the Assistant Controller and is part of the North America Finance Team, whose principle functions include:
• the day to day operation of the accounting books of record of the Group’s NA entities on SAP
• production and reporting of monthly management accounts and other reporting metrics, including detailed variance analysis
• budgeting and forecasting
• maintenance and development of the accounting systems, controls and procedures, including to meet Sarbanes Oxley requirements
• ad hoc assignments as required
The role of Management Accountant, based in NA, will handle a full range of responsibilities including:
• Provide accounting and analytical support for assigned aspects of the business (ex., Marketing, Databases)
• Perform monthly close activities including preparing journal entries, accounts reconciliations, variance analysis and reporting
• Maintain Fixed Assets records, prepare journal entries for additions/retirements, run monthly depreciation
• Prepare budget and financial forecast for assigned accounts
• Streamline and improve processes to achieve efficiencies
• Design new reports, improve analytics, present analysis to senior management
• Collaborate with other team members to provide insightful analysis and management information for timely decision making
• Communicate with peers, business liaisons and third party vendors to gain information and ensure compliance with company policies and GAAP
• Assist internal and external auditors with Sarbanes-Oxley and financial audits
• Support treasury department as backup
This is a great role for an up-and-coming accountant to gain invaluable experience in multiple aspects of finance processes in addition to interacting with various areas of business on a daily basis.
Essential experience/qualities:
• qualified accountant with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience
• well-developed communication skills, verbal and written
• knowledge of SAP or similar accounting systems, including reporting packages a plus
• knowledge and experience of SOX compliance would be beneficial, although not essential
