Private Wealth Services Tax Manager
Position Summary:
Grant Thornton’s responsive, partner-led Tax service teams help dynamic companies navigate complexity and grow with insightful, practical tax advice. In addition to tax professionals across the United States, our Washington National Tax Office provides deep technical knowledge and responsive support in local, state, federal and international tax. Our tax services include: compliance, human capital services, federal tax services, international tax services, state and local tax services, private wealth services, tax reporting and advisory, partnership taxation, not-for-profit tax, and mergers & acquisition tax services.
The Tax Manager in the General Tax Private Wealth Service (PWS) group is responsible for managing tax engagements and providing tax consulting services to our clients. The PWS Tax Manager works with other professionals in Family Wealth Planning and SFTS to build a profitable practice, delivering high value solutions and income, estate, and gift tax planning strategies to the high net worth market. The client base is primarily comprised of owners of closely held businesses and other high-income individuals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Private Wealth Service Tax Manager, an important portion of responsibilities will be in the development of the practice, as well as attracting and mentoring talented professionals.
• Manage the efforts of multiple client services teams on client engagements; plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects in a wide variety of industries; provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients; market, sell, design, and implement tax-planning strategies for clients and manage to budget.
• Provide tax planning and consulting to our firm's high net worth clients for estate, wills and trusts taxation, and individual income taxes. Interact closely with client's other advisers such as attorneys and financial asset managers.
• Research and consult on tax matters, primarily in the federal estate, gift, charitable planning, and generation-skipping tax arenas.
• Consult, work with, and service client to make recommendations on business and process improvement and serve as a business adviser to clients.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA required. Five to eight+ years of progressive tax consulting and compliance in Private Wealth Service or related area, in public accounting or consulting.
• Experience in dealing with family units with $25 million and above in net worth, and a proven track record in implementation of tax strategies.
• Experience in financial modeling and analysis.
• Outstanding experience in staff and tax management in an integrated client service team.
• Demonstrated experience in practice development, business development, and managing other managers.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Masters in Taxation, LLM in Taxation, JD, or CFP.
Additional Information:
• Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.
