Job Description
Position Description
The qualified candidate will support the head of Market Risk in the oversight of the market risk exposure of Ally's investment and derivative portfolios. This role is part of the Enterprise Market Risk team which provides independent risk management within Ally.
Job Responsibilities
• Monitor macro-level market trends and emerging risks along with product exposures to analyze potential impacts to the securities and interest rate and FX derivative portfolios.
• Decompose risk contributors and drivers of changes to various risk metrics reported.
• Pose an effective review and challenge to the investment and hedging team as needed.
• Participate in, implement and deliver new initiatives/projects.
• Develop new and refine existing Risk Appetite parameters.
• Provide analysis / risk reporting to support senior management and various committees.
• Support regulatory initiatives such as CCAR/DFAST reporting and effective challenge requirements.
• Interpret applicable regulations and contribute to the development and implementation of regulatory compliance frameworks as needed. A clear example is the implementation of the SSFA for capital computation on structured credit products.
Qualifications
• Degree in a technical field such as Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research. MBA, CFA, CAIA, or FRM is considered a plus but not required
• 3-7 years work experience in the financial industry, preferably in risk management focusing on fixed income instruments. Equities is a plus.
• Strong quantitative and analytical background with an understanding of risk management concepts and statistical measures (VaR, stress testing, sensitivity analysis, correlation, etc...)
• High attention to detail and ability to work independently to produce executive-level materials
• Strong communication skills and ability to clearly articulate complex concepts
• Experienced in providing an independent opinion as to the reasonableness of applicable risk models and the resulting risk metrics and sensitivities
• Experienced in performing back-testing analysis to test model effectiveness
• Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills required (both verbal and written); previously demonstrated ability to build relationships with stakeholders
• Proficient knowledge of a variety of technical and market tools, including Blackrock's Aladdin, Bloomberg, Excel, and databases (e.g. Access, SQL).
