Webster Bank -- Vice President Leveraged Finance
Position Summary
As a Vice President Portfolio Manager for Webster Bank's Sponsor and Specialty Banking team, you will lead financial and business due diligence for cash flow based investments in the Restaurant & Franchise sector. You will also manage the financial performance of a dedicated portfolio of accounts. Potential candidates at this level are typically building upon the skills required to underwrite, close and manage leveraged loan transactions and have a high level of responsibility under minimal supervision. You will be a meaningful contributor and assume increasing levels of responsibility with underwriting, managing accounts and referral source relationships.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include working with junior level associates to conduct thorough due diligence of potential borrowers in the Restaurant & Franchise sector. Vice President's prepare internal credit memos and will present the underwriting diligence and portfolio management results to investment committee. Throughout this process the Vice President will interact with multiple stakeholders and have the opportunity to teach and mentor junior deal team members. You will interact with business development officers, credit professionals, capital markets, private equity sponsors, company management, and investment bankers, as well as legal counsel, loan closers and operations personnel.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent work experience.
• 7-10 years' experience in leveraged finance at a commercial or investment bank with strong commercial credit experience.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency with financial statement modeling.
• Experience underwriting middle market sponsored transactions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little to no supervision.
• Experience in middle market consumer segment is highly preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, business or related discipline. MBA considered a plus.
• Graduate of a formalized credit training program.
• Over 10 years' experience in leveraged finance at a commercial or investment bank with strong commercial credit experience.
• Received either CFA or CPA professional certifications.
• Experience leading credit agreements / legal documentation of leveraged loans.

Webster Sponsor and Specialty Banking provides customized secured commercial loans to middle-market companies, typically backed by private equity capital.
