CLA is looking for a motivated, experienced public accountant with estate and trust tax experience to work closely with partners, staff and clients to handle a variety of income, gift and estate tax related engagements. This includes research, tax planning and projections, as well as preparation of federal and state income tax returns for individuals and fiduciaries.
This is a unique position for an individual looking for professional growth and increasing responsibility in our Estate and Trust practice at CLA. A public accountant who has exposure to estate and trusts and wants to explore this area further would do very well.
Qualifications:
• Experience with estate (Form 706), fiduciary income (Form 1041), gift (Form 709), and decedent’s income (Form 1040) tax returns
• Bachelor's degree in accounting
• 1-3 years’ experience as a public accountant in a tax setting at a public accounting firm
• CPA license (or on track to take exams)
• 1-3 years of tax accounting experience in a public accounting firm particularly with estate and trust
What you'll do:
You'll be involved in a lot of estate and trust work and have managers and coaches preparing you for higher level roles in the future. You can expect opportunities to be involved in:
• Preparation of gift (Form709), estate (Form 706), fiduciary income (Form 1041), and decedent’s income (Form 1040) tax returns.
• Opportunity to be involved in application of passive activity rules to non-grantor trusts and estates.
• Working on state/local income tax for multi-state filers.
• Responding to federal and state tax notices.
• Analyzing trust documents to determine income tax status (grantor vs. non-grantor, simple vs. complex).
• Keeping up to date on current tax practices and changes in tax law.
• Performing research projects
• Engaging in ongoing personal development in line with a rewarding growth and development strategy.
