Job Description:
The primary function of the Discover Home Equity Senior Loan Processing/Closing Associate will be to ensure the timely and accurate packaging of loans originated by the DHE team. This processor may handle escalated issues or more complex transactions, with the proven ability to consistently achieve higher production/efficiency standards (i.e. funded loans). They may assist the team Coach/Team Leader with the onboarding, mentoring, or coaching of more junior processors.

Processing
A Discover home equity loan processor serves as the primary point of contact post origination to closing. The processor thoroughly reviews the loan application to identify and request supporting documentation and order vendor work. After stipulations are met the processor assembles and submits quality files to underwriting for analysis. Post underwriting approval the processor works in conjunction with the closing team to ensure the timely fulfillment of the loan. Throughout the loan lifecycle the processor maintains amicable relationships with various involved parties such as vendors, personal bankers, underwriters, closers, and supporting teams.
Skills
Process home equity loan applications.
Verify inputs in the loan origination system and update as necessary.
Complete moderately complex income, debt, and loan to value calculations.
Efficiently manage a personal pipeline of up to 40-60 loan applications ensuring all daily file tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Review, validate and satisfy loan conditions.
Ensure all aspects of the file are accurate and compliant including but not limited to industry regulations, credit policies and strategies.
Communicate with customers, both over the phone and in writing, regarding loan status.
Order and review vendor work or verifications as necessary.
Contact various third parties to assist in reviewing or updating financial or credit data.
Ensure fees are documented accurately.
Perform file quality checks periodically.
Prepare and submit quality files to underwriting for analysis.
Seeks guidance when necessary from procedures, team members, and management personnel.
Develop and support strong working relationships with vendors, loan officers, underwriters, closers and other collaborating teams.
Meet Discovers established guidelines for attendance policy and code of conduct.
Other duties as necessary.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
2-4 years of processing experience in home equity or mortgage environment.
Ability to obtain NMLS registration under Discover Bank and maintain good standing through required annual attestation.
Knowledge of industry regulations, financial concepts and fraud detection.
Exceptional written and oral customer communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task and connect potentially disparate pieces of information together to make informed, timely decisions.
Capable of working a five day 40 hour work week Monday through Friday from 7:00am-6:00pm.
