Role Value Proposition:
The Senior Financial Analyst will be a key resource of the Retirement and Income Solutions (RIS) Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team. The Retirement and Income Solutions segment is MetLife’s retirement business for institutional customers.
The candidate will be responsible for consolidating financial results, budgets, plan and projection models, and preparing financial reports to help the team and senior management understand financial trends across our business units. The candidate will prepare reports for projected financial metrics (P&L, Sales, Balance Sheet, Embedded Value) relative to comparable periods, including prior projections, plan, and actual financial results. S/he will also perform some analysis as needed to help the team understand business drivers of change and help resolve discrepancies.
The candidate will collaborate with members of the RIS FP&A team, RIS Controllers, US Business Finance, Expense Reporting, and other key finance partners in the reporting of the 3-year plan and monthly re-projections. The candidate will also be expected to help prepare management presentations to help articulate the key performance drivers, economic and non-economic assumptions, product/industry trends, and risks/opportunities.
We are looking for the following key qualities in the candidate: strong business acumen, ability to juggle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment, eagerness to learn, and strong technical background (proficiency in Microsoft Office and in financial statement analysis).
Key Responsibilities:
• Consolidate financial projections/budgets/results.
• Review submissions for accuracy and reasonability.
• Data management of financial models and reports.
• Prepare management reports to help leadership understand drivers of change.
• Perform iterative improvements to reporting and analytic capabilities.
• Ad-hoc projects as assigned.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
• 3-6+ years of experience in a public or private company environment.
• BA/BS degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Strong understanding of Insurance GAAP concepts and financial statement analysis.
• Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Must be comfortable in dealing with ambiguity.
• Ability to partner across departments to improve processes and analysis.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communications, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work overtime as needed during peak reporting periods.
Preferred:
• Post-graduate degree or certification(s) a plus.
• Ability to write SQL scripts and macros is highly desirable.
