Analyst – Defined Benefit
The Team
The Analyst - Defined Benefit, in addition to being proficient in the Associate Analyst role, will serve as a role model for the Specialists and Senior Specialists. The Analyst will answer questions that Specialists, Senior Specialists and/or the Associate Analysts may have as they learn and develop. The Analyst is responsible for the review (to ensure processing accuracy) of work performed by other team members.
Under limited direction, the Analyst - Defined Benefit is responsible for managing specific processes, calculations and other tasks associated with servicing defined benefit plans. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing and approving complex calculations and other transactions and retirement processing, responding to participant and plan sponsor inquiries and issue resolution. In this role, you will be involved in managing and executing projects. You will analyze business systems and processes to identify user needs, document requirements and address operations issues and improvements to accomplish business objectives. You will also act as the liaison between end users and operational, configuration or systems areas. Analysts are required to execute specific project deliverables in support of profitable and superior client service delivery and act as a resource regarding client benefit plans and system functionality.
The Expertise You Have
• BS or BA preferred-mathematical/financial related degree preferred
• Proven track record of working effectively in a flexible work environment with a results-oriented approach
• 4+ years of analytical experience, project or other job related experience
• Experience with complex processing in defined benefit required
• Experience with Access and/ or SQL queries – ability to run queries

The Value You Deliver
• Proactively follow through on multiple project deliverables related to (a) client change order request and (b) internal operational issues requiring knowledge of a client’s administrative plan design to ensure high quality delivery of projects.
• Define and document high quality business requirements.
• Define expected results/test plans.
• Execute all project deliverables in an accurate and timely manner, including one or more of the following:
• Manually calculate expected results and load into the core operating system.
• Work closely with Systems to have non-standard files loaded into production
• Perform complex processing that requires special handling
• Run Access and/or SQL queries
• Execute operational audits and reconciliations
• Submit/validate scripts or other bulk data updates to the core record-keeping system
• Document/Update the client specific requirements documents (e.g. procedures) in conjunction with these projects.
• Develop and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and post production validations.
• Ensure the timely and accurate processing of client calculations, including complex transactions either during day-to-day or through assigned projects
• Research root cause of operational issues and recommend business solutions, based on knowledge of client’s plan design and system functionality. Participate in Service Recoveries as needed
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on clients Plan Rules and/or processes, in support of other operational and client service teams; Act as a contact point and technical expert for team members regarding procedural questions, policy issues, training questions and systems questions
• Perform double-signing and other audit tasks within the team.
• Participate in drafting and maintaining project and client specific procedures
• Mentor and coach other Analysts/Specialists
