Job Description
Senior Director of Business Development ("SDBD") is primarily responsible for generating new financing opportunities for CF by developing extensive, deep and tenured relationships with referral sources, principally, middle market private equity firms and other firms that participate in the middle market buyout segment (investment banks, lenders, consultants) that result in repeatable new opportunities for CF. The SDBD is an accomplished, self-motivated individual possessing expert credit acumen with prior successes readily acknowledged by market participants.
Job Responsibilities
• Market all SFD Products
• Know/promote Ally CF products.
• Know private equity financing needs
• Provide financing solutions for private equity sponsors' portfolio of companies
• Identify refinancing opportunities within the existing portfolio
• Assist with the hiring development and retaining less tenured staff
• Develop Relationships
• Qualify best fit prospects for CF
• Develop, update plan to appropriately market CF services
• Consistently interact with clients with access to the most senior levels and position CF products for lead agent right opportunities
• Utilize full extent of CF resources and people to establish institutional linkages
• Lead/coordinate communication with clients
• Utilize personal network to penetrate new clients or access financing opportunities
• Understand the market
• Be immersed in competitive products and current and historic market dynamics (pricing, terms...)
• Deeply comprehend clients specific needs and issues particular to their investments with granular understanding client to client
• Understand CF's appetite vis-à-vis market
• Manage Internal Requirements
• Utilize database management tools effectively
• Insure proper on boarding of transactions (NDA, CIM's, etc.)
• Proactively work jointly with team members to meet internal and client requirements
• Mentor less tenured team members
• Assist in analyzing credit issues and preparation of internal communication
Qualifications
• Required Education: BA in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• Master's degree is preferred
• 12+ years of progressive business development experience with relevant experience in the middle market leverage lending sector
• Experience with managing a team
• Significant product knowledge and extensive expertise in financing approaches and techniques for equity and / or debt.
• Completion of bank/finance company credit training program preferred
• Possesses superior client relationship skills
• Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills
• Proven success in hiring, developing and retaining talent
• Highly analytical, detail oriented with problem solving capability
• Well-developed presentation and relationship selling skills
• High level of accountability
