The Role: The AVP of Security Operation will function as a transformational leader responsible for building processes and procedures to plan, deliver, operate and control security services offered to customers. S/he will support global security operations and will take on responsibilities associated with Identity & Access Management, Network Technologies, Operating System, Active Directory and LDAP. This role will lead a team of 25 Security Operations Organization by providing strategic and tactical security guidance for key IT projects, including the evaluation and recommendation of technical controls and enhancements.
Reporting to the SVP of Service Operations, this role will allow Service Operations to consolidate security operations functions to include Authentication, Security Product Support like Active Directory, LDAP, DNS and DHCP, Network Security, Incident Management L1, L2 & L3, Patching, Compliance, Remediation and Coordination. The Global Security Operations role will have 4 direct reports and 25 indirect reports. The mandate for this department is to provide enterprise-wide security operations support. The leader of this department will possess a deep technical awareness of information security topics as they relate to protection of enterprise data. This position will be responsible for defining the strategic direction by aligning security operations to the business needs and goals, providing security operations and vulnerability management, leadership, day-to-day support for security products and drive resiliency. As a result of this consolidation, Security Operations role will develop 24x7 organization that will support MetLife security agenda, and align Security Operations Center to the business-critical priorities. The position possesses a deep technical awareness of a broad spectrum of information security topics as they relate to the protection of confidential data.

Key Responsibilities:
The role possesses in-depth knowledge about the Security Operations practice.
• Define overall strategy, mission, and key performance indicators for the security operations center.
• Develop short-term and long-term strategic roadmaps providing leadership and direction for the enterprise infrastructure security operations.
• Develop next generation leaders across security operations platform.
• Manages the interaction and accountability with industry partners and vendors regarding thought-leadership, industry trends, product directions and required product enhancements.
• Manages and ensures superior level 1, 2 and 3 support services to all stakeholders for all infrastructure services and service components within the area of responsibility.
• Manage relationship with Engineering, Application Development and IT Risk and Security teams to ensure successful technology deployments and steady state. Work with vendor support teams to ensure superior support of MetLife environments. Supports Second and First level support areas on product problems and fixes.
• Ability to manage large vendor portfolios and managed service agreements.
• Ability to foster organizational change through multiple channels.
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
• Expert-level technical knowledge of network design and architecture, routing and switching, optical technologies, SIEM, Firewall, vulnerability assessment, security monitoring, IPS, IDS, Proxies, email security, anti-malware etc.
• Bachelor’s Degree, with a technology or business emphasis. Advanced degree preferred.

Candidate Qualifications:
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree, with a technology or business emphasis. Advanced degree preferred.
• 10-15+ years of progressive experience in security function, with a dedicated focus on Enterprise Security Management.
• 10+ years of progressive experience working within large, global financial institutions.
• Ability to foster and drive organizational change, within a highly matrixed environment, through process optimization, change leadership and the development of a strong network of partners.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with driving optimal results through data-driven decision making.
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge leading security functions.
• Effective organizational and cultural skills to drive and implement major change initiatives.
• Strong negotiation, influence and communication skills. Will be routinely required to influence and negotiate with various stakeholders, including SVP / EVPs globally across IT.
• Strong relationship management and strategic communication skills.
