What you'll do
The Billing Architect is an internal customer-facing role for a hands-on systems architect to lead the evolution of the core billing platform and its integrations to other enterprise systems. As an energetic self-starter, you will drive improvement to the cycle time, quality, automation and robustness of the end to end billing process by utilizing a proven track record designing and developing high-performance systems in complex, heterogeneous technical environments. This role requires a combination of architecture, design, hands-on development and interworking with other teams/vendors to deliver the technology roadmap. You will solve complex technical challenges in information extraction, large-scale computing, distributed systems, web applications, scalability, security, and algorithms to name a few. You’ll strive for simplicity, and demonstrate significant creativity and good judgment.
• Create and maintain the system architecture and roadmap with input from key stakeholders. Ensure traceability to the business capability roadmap owned by the ePMO
• Own the design, development and evolution of the technology platform and interfaces. Act as the prime solution provider for the billing team. Responsible for all technical deliverables related to billing, including overseeing and validate deliverables from internal and external parties. Ensure high standards of technical work quality from all contributing parties
• Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions
• Drive regular release of deliverables across the full system lifecycle from inception, design, construction, deployment to management aspects of the platform. Coordinate solutions with project managers and other teams performing technical work
• Work with upstream and downstream system/platform owners to ensure interfaces and data models are optimized, and providing the necessary information for complete billing
• Work with Infrastructure, security and operations/support teams to ensure the process runs with high availability and per internal standards. Establish Billing platform performance SLAs and L1/L2/L3 support matrices. Ensure proper technical environments are established and populated with data to facilitate development, testing, QA and production
• Ensure solution architecture, design, application and integration development follow best practices/principles and standards for enterprise architecture, source code management, environment management and testing.
• Lead design and code reviews
• Find, qualify and technically rank multiple vendors for any outsourced work
• Proactively plan for new platform demands including but not limited to organic growth, new products, new product features and new billing users features. Ensure that new products/feature created by other teams are supported and billable
• Perform timely evaluation of new projects initiated within and outside the domain
• Apply the ability to quickly absorb and implement complex user business rules
What you'll bring to the team
• Minimum 10 years of proven success architecting and integrating complex solutions
• Minimum 10 years’ experience as a software developer combined with a BS Degree in Engineering or Comp Sci, MS desirable
• An ability to apply knowledge of Waterfall/SDLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies, SQL, APIs, GIT, SCM, and database technologies to create relevant solutions
• Experience in FinTech, Telecom, Software, Media or industry w/specific knowledge of financial transactions, high volume data/transactions and processing environments, security, testing, and reporting
• Able to communicate effectively with technical and business personal
• Effective with time management and self-prioritization of tasks
• Experience working with cloud (AWS), on premise solutions and hybrid environments
• Ability to work across large teams, prioritize, collaborate, make/meet commitments
