Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking an IT Systems Administrator to work on our Technical Services team in Dallas, TX office. This position is in a fast-paced group which assists multiple software development teams that work on production enterprise insurance applications in a variety of environments.
Position Responsibilities:
• Assist with Design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of infrastructure monitoring solutions using COTS utilities, native tools, and scripting.
• Partners with internal technical customers and business representatives to identify critical applications and application resources and then develop monitoring solutions for those items identified.
• Assist with Creating and maintenance of dashboards for monitoring; Up/Down status, Performance, and Business processes.
• Assist developers with identifying application performance bottle necks.
• Create and maintain synthetic business transactions to establish application baseline performance and long term trends.
• Confers with vendors and other company representatives to solve technical problems, evaluate new hardware and software products and develop plans for programs, products and customer enhancements.
Position Qualifications:
• 2+ years of progressively more responsible work experience in an information technology discipline.
• Experience involving problem solving production software applications.
• Experience using Application Performance Monitoring Tools (CA APM, Splunk, Orion or similar).
• Experience using Scripting Tools to implement synthetic business transaction and run performance test (Powershell, Python, etc.).
• Understanding of Web Services and how to interface with them.
• Understanding of Java and how to implement.
• Understanding of XML and how to modify it.
• Understanding of SOA Services and how to interface with them.
• Education equivalent to a college degree in Information Technology, Programming, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or the equivalent in related work experience.
• Experience using Tomcat, a plus.
• Experience using Apache HTTPD, a plus.
• Linux, Chef/Puppet and Windows Server, a plus.
