The business analysis / project lead aspect of our team handles multiple high priority projects and tasks in an extremely fast paced, complex environment and makes independent urgent decisions. We participate in projects to develop, review, document and validate accounting requirements and workflow for life insurance and annuity policy administration systems. We also research accounting issues, submit remediation requirements, track progress and validate results.
Your Contribution at AIG
• Participate on project teams responsible for creating and changing accounting processes and procedures within life insurance and annuity administration systems and the general ledger
• Assume a project leadership role to develop accounting requirements and workflow in partnership with Financial Reporting and Insurance Operation teams
• Serve as a subject matter expert on accounting processes in multiple policy administration systems
• Research and resolve accounting issues raised by Finance, Actuarial, Reinsurance and Operations business users
• Create and/or review accounting workflow documentation, formally request system changes and validate new or modified accounting
• Document, communicate and track accounting issues and defects
• Work with financial systems support colleagues to facilitate changes to the general ledger, coordinate testing and implementation
• Work with project management colleagues to report project status, health, accomplishments, key issues, and next steps
What is expected of this position?
• Partner with Finance management, process owners, stakeholders, operational, technical, data quality, data governance, and data teams to implement accounting processes and procedures
• Adhere to project schedules and meet stated deadlines
• Ensure successful implementation of projects by identifying and managing end to end tasks
• Communicate, collaborate and interact effectively with all levels of staff and management within Finance, Actuarial, Reinsurance, operational and systems teams, on and off-site, within AIG and with outside third party administrators
• Provide excellent customer service to stakeholders
• Adhere to robust internal controls and internal documentation requirements
What we are looking for
• Bachelor’s degree and approximately 3 -- 5 years working with life insurance and annuity policy accounting
• Financial accounting and reporting systems knowledge, preferably SAP ECC / BW / BPC
• Strong understanding of life, health and annuity insurance products, accounting, and financial reporting. Knowledge of ALIP, Vantage, Navisys, and other life insurance and annuity systems is a plus.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio, Project, and Access
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-centric and front-line staff perspective
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to make consistent, sound and effective decisions with minimal direction and a positive outlook
• Ability to multi-task with a variety of systems and processes
• Ability to collaborate and interact effectively with all levels of staff and management, on and off-site
• Demonstrated record of consistent strong performance
