Position Overview

Freddie Mac’s Enterprise Risk Management Division is an independent second line of defense function responsible for the design, implementation, and oversight of an effective risk management framework in line with Federal Housing Finance Agency (“FHFA”) expectations. The Enterprise Risk Management Division includes Enterprise Operational Risk (EOR) and Compliance functions. EOR’s mission is to design and implement the enterprise operational risk framework applicable to all operational risk types that enable efficient risk management. EOR is responsible for directly overseeing information, technology, business resiliency, third party, fraud, people and process risks and for reporting the enterprise aggregate operational risk profile to management and the Board. EOR, in conjunction with the Compliance function, is commencing a multi-year strategic effort to enhance Freddie Mac’s operational risk management and compliance capabilities enterprise wide.
The Technology Operations Associate will report to the Technology Operations Manager. The role will support the implementation, maintenance, and operations of risk technology platforms (e.g. GRC). The Technology Operations Associate will support the Technology Operations Manager in working closely with the business-aligned, specialized domain risk leads and other risk leaders to improve the rollout and use of the risk technology platforms, identify efficiency opportunities, as well as monitor and manage issues through periodic assessment of performance.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Risk Platform Operations
• Support the Technology Operations Manager with the risk technology platform(s) implementation and operations (e.g., user management, technical support, user and system documentation, system availability) and ensure compliance with overall Freddie Mac Information Technology policies and standards
• Support Technology Operations Manager and Senior, as well as the business lines to improve rollout of risk technology platforms and identify efficiency opportunities in reporting and analytics
• According to Technology Operations Manager direction, provide developments to user and system documentation
• Assist with system testing, and document results, ensuring that all appropriate defects are identified and documented with action plans
• Support periodic assessments of the end-to-end design of controls for all risk technology platforms and processes
• Support the maintenance of resiliency/disaster recovery plan for all risk technology platforms
• Keep abreast of industry trends and practices related to technological developments and innovation
Frameworks, Policies & Standards
• Participate in ensuring that risk technology implementation and ongoing operations comply with EOR standards related to privacy, information security, information classification, records retention, and data governance.
• Help develop and maintain an accurate and complete inventory of applications, end user controls, models, data stores
• Assist in development of business definitions for identified critical data
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in related field, Master's preferred
• 2+ years of experience in risk management at a large financial services institution(s)
• 8+ years of experience in risk platform strategies, implementation (e.g. technical requirements, testing), maintenance (e.g. change management), and operations (e.g. user management, troubleshooting, system availability)
• Experience in data management and risk platform reporting
• Experience with GRC tool(s) and/or BWise
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse group of stakeholders
• Ability to motivate and inspire action through interpersonal skills
• Proactive leadership
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong business acumen and problem-solving ability
• Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
Preferred Skills
• Understanding of regulatory requirements related to operational risk management (e.g. Basel, FHFA)
• Familiarity with GSE’s regulatory operational risk framework, including prudential standards and FHFA advisory bulletins
