Description
This is an excellent opportunity to join Citizens Bank and be a key contributor in our Business Unit Controller group.
This position is a critical role to certify the accuracy of both internal and external financial results. This is an exceptional opportunity at a pivotal point for a motivated and career-minded finance professional to join our team as our responsibilities expand.
Our team is looking for a colleague that will:
• Analyze financial results to ensure reasonableness and accuracy
• Develop strong relationships across the enterprise to facilitate a detailed understanding of our financial results and portfolio trends, such that deviations from expectations can easily be identified and remedied
• Perform an active role in the month-end financial close process to ensure a deep analytical understanding of actual results vs. forecast/budget, and prior periods. Responsible for reporting results for senior management
• Perform work around technical and valuation-related accounting concepts,
• Enhance the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting
• Support the preparation and review of external reporting, including working cooperatively with our partners in Investor Relations, Business Services, Credit Risk, SEC reporting
Partner with our SEC and Regulatory reporting teams to respond to both internal and external audit and / or regulatory inquiries.
Qualifications
• 7+ years of diversified accounting and financial reporting experience
• Time spent at a large financial services institution a plus
• Public Accounting experience a plus
• Experience interacting with senior management a plus
• Experience managing, coaching and mentoring staff a plus
• Solid understanding of accounting concepts and principles
• Knowledge of SEC and other external financial reporting is required
• Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and maintain confidentiality
• Ability to actively participate in new and existing projects / initiatives
• Strong organizational, written and verbal communications skills are required
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required, CPA is preferred
