JOB INFORMATION
Internal Controls Process Analyst I is a role within the Operations Risk Department that will work under the supervision of the Internal Controls Process Manager. Internal Controls Process Analysts will establish an understanding of the principles, concepts, practices, and standards of operational risk and Sarbanes Oxley. This knowledge will be used to work with other team members to assess controls, identify gaps, and evaluate the adequacy of risk mitigation efforts. The Analyst will be responsible for incident and issue management as well as documenting control information in our risk and control matrices. The Analyst will also participate in assessments used to determine the design effectiveness of current and future state controls. Work assignments are completed with supervision and are typically considered moderate in scope and complexity.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
• Identify and analyze emerging risks, key risk trends, and reporting gaps
• Support Strategic Initiatives by evaluating design effectiveness of future state controls
• Identify and assess operational risks, evaluate the adequacy of risk mitigation efforts, and oversee the implementation of control recommendations.
• Conduct research for an respond to inquiries from internal and external points of contact; advise management on significant matters regarding business, internal programs, and activities related to internal control matter
• Responsible for incident and issue management, resolution timelines, reporting, and escalation when necessary.
• Assist in monitoring the status and follow-up remediations for operational issues.
• Work with team members to identify how the internal controls environment of the organization can be improved and share recommendations with the Internal Controls Process Manager.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
• 1+ years of related experience
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
• Demonstrated ability to perform independent risk reviews including control design assessments, utilizing industry best practices.
• Prior experience includes 1+ years in a related control discipline (e.g. Risk Management, Strategic Initiatives, Internal / External Audit, Operations, etc.).
• Ability to work both collaboratively with the team and independently in a flexible and dynamic environment. Participate in project meetings with business owners and subject matter experts.
• Strong verbal and writing communication skills are necessary. Ability to effectively communicate through all levels of the organization.
• Organized and analytical with a keen attention to detail. Strong critical thinking, time management, and planning abilities.
• Strong work ethic, excellent use of discretion and judgment and the ability to work under pressure and multi-task on various assignments.
• Ability to identify and recommend improvements to process.
• Knowledge of the Mortgage and/or Capital Markets industry
