HR Recruiter / Generalist – Insurance
Primary Function:The HR Recruiter / Generalist promotes organizational excellence by supporting and sustaining a culture that values all colleagues, fosters teamwork, recognizes and rewards exceptional performance, and supports the
achievement of personal and professional goals. Specifically, the HR Recruiter / Generalist directs and performs tasks related to talent acquisition, retention and development; human resources administration and management; and
organizational program implementation and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Serves as the primary human resources, recruitment and retention (R3) professional for an office, state, region or defined territory.
• As an R3 team member:
◦ supports an evolving business environment characterized by open communication, innovation, integrity, accountability, fair treatment, trust and mutual respect
◦ acts as an organizational ambassador and facilitator to champion innovative and results-oriented programs
◦ inspires colleagues to contribute at optimal levels towards the success of BXSI
◦ represents the office, state, region or territory at R3 team meetings, on team conference calls, in project work groups, and at industry or HR conferences.
• Efficiently and effectively recruits talent, by:
◦ Collaborating with hiring managers, and office or regional leaders, to assess staffing needs and staffing budget
◦ Completing and tracking personnel requisitions
◦ Posting positions via BXSI online system, social media, and/or other approved posting sites
◦ Networking and conducting outreach initiatives to identify passive job seekers and/or to diversify our pool of potential talent
◦ Determining the need for additional recruitment support, internal or external, and coordinating same
◦ Screening referrals and applications, vetting resumes and candidates, and making selections to go to next steps
◦ Interviewing, checking references, administering appropriate company assessments, and performing reference and background checks
◦ Coordinating interviews with the hiring managers, following up on the interview process, and other hiring processes as needed
◦ Ensuring that pre-hire and hiring decisions are documented and filed according to procedure
• Coordinates and participates in college recruiting initiatives, attends career fairs for recruiting and company recognition, develops working relationships with colleges regarding sponsorships and speaker opportunities, and gives presentations at colleges to increase awareness of BXSI.
• Completes hiring process by coordinating with regional leadership, functional leaders (including service and sales leadership) to produce compliant offer letters, validating templates for producer hires, and employment agreements.
• Onboards and orients new employees according to established procedures and as detailed on the New Hire Checklist.
• Develops and tracks measurable results of the recruiting and hiring process so that the processes are transparent and quantifiable.
• Acts as implementation coordinator and change manager for new organizational initiatives as defined by the R3 team and/or BXSI leadership.
• Develops a professional network and stays abreast of industry and human resources topics and trends through research, active association memberships, meeting and conference attendance, social media and other team members. Maintains active HRCI or SHRM certification.
• Supports a healthy, safe and productive work environment by encouraging open communication and proactive problem solving, through a confidential employee relations process; escalates issues as necessary.
• Conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth and/or as necessary and appropriate.
• Through sound Human Resources practices, supports a high-performance workplace culture that is focused on positive employer-employee relationships, career development, fair and ethical treatment of employees, clear goals and teamwork.
• Coaches and trains managers in effective and legally sound communication, feedback, problem resolution, recognition and other written and verbal interactions.
• Reviews, initiates and/or facilitates recommendations for disciplinary action, including employment terminations; implements and ensures compliance with the progressive discipline system of the company.
• Initiates and monitors the implementation and progress of performance improvement processes to assist underperforming employees.
• Facilitates the annual performance evaluation process, and the regional and organizational review of the results of the process, including tracking, adherence to deadlines and ratings calibration.
• Makes recommendations for changes, or facilitates approved changes, to compensation during the annual salary review process, the annual bonus process, and/or changes that are necessary outside of the annual processes.
• Serves as a volunteer career coach after completing the BXSI Career Coach certification training program.
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities as requested.
Qualifications:
Education/Designations
• BA/BS in human resources, other degree with a minor or emphasis in human resources, or equivalent experience.
• Certified by the HRCI or SHRM.
Skill Requirements
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
• Working knowledge of various employment laws and best practices
• Strong communicator with the ability to influence and persuade across all levels of the organization, exercising high degree of confidentiality, professionalist, poise, tact and diplomacy to accomplish objectives
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent organizational skills and a detail-orientation
• Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
• Skilled at gathering and analyzing information
• Knowledge of compensation administration, performance management, employee relations and talent acquisition (recruitment)
• Ability to travel for team meetings, recruitment meetings, college visits, career fairs and maintain a flexible work schedule
• Proficiency in Microsoft and/or Google office suite; Success Factors experience preferred.
Work Experience
• 5+ years experience as an HR generalist and professional member of a human resources department.
• 3+ years full-cycle recruiting experience
• 3+ years of employee relations support
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand or sit at a workstation during a standard workday
• Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and printer
• Ability to move about the office to access office machinery and supplies
Mental Requirements
• Ability to work and meet challenging deadlines and expectations
• Job entails meticulous attention to detail. Must perform well with frequent interruptions or distractions.
• Ability to quickly adjust priorities, focus and direction as circumstances dictates
