Description
Position Summary:
Kemper has an immediate need for a Senior Actuarial Analyst. Performs complex pricing analyses and provides actuarial support for filings. Prepares and analyzes complex internal management information. This position works closely with the Actuarial Manager, Actuarial Director, Data Scientists, and Product Managers to develop appropriate pricing and product strategies to support organizational goals. Pursuing actuarial accreditation (ACAS, FCAS), if not yet achieved.
Position Responsibilities:
• Produce sound rate level indications with robust understanding of actuarial ratemaking methodology
• Support state filing process with actuarial memorandum, actuarial filing forms, correspondence with regulators, measurement of rate impacts, and documentation of analysis
• Perform complex pricing analyses, such as rate calculations, base rate offsets, territorial pricing, limit and deductible pricing, segmentation analysis, coverage analysis, and ad-hoc analysis
• Quantify, validate and prepare proposed rates
• Prepare actuarial proposals for management and business partners
• Pull, aggregate, and query ratemaking data
• Develop recommendation on rates and rating plan to satisfy financial objectives of the organization
• Perform complex trend analysis (e.g. frequency and severity trends)
• Automate and enhance processes to improve efficiencies
• Support and/or lead the development and design of new plans, programs, processes, products up to moderate complexity
• May oversee financial forecasting/planning process
• Complete pricing projects and ad-hoc requests
• Develop management information to inform business partners on the health of the business
• Communicate effectively with management and business partners
• Adhere to internal and external compliance requirements/standards
• Assist with the development of junior-level staff
• Develop skills through continuing education opportunities
• Meet expectations for Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exam progress and/or continuing education
Position Requirements:
• 4+ years of experience as an actuarial analyst or quantitative pricing analyst, preferably Property & Casualty experience
• Successful completion of 5 or more actuarial exams or demonstrates equivalent knowledge
• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics or related field, or the equivalent in related work experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
