Overview
SMBC is looking for a talented person to work in its Governance and Regulatory Group, within the Planning Department, Americas Division.
The position is with the SMBC Governance and Regulatory Team, and will be supporting the governance and regulatory compliance framework of the Americas Division, as well as handling cross-departmental and Division-wide project management.
Responsibilities
This role will be expected to:
• Plan and coordinate regular, governance and other related senior management meetings
• Report to management on status of governance and regulation
• Maintain up to date committee and subcommittee matrices
• Communicate with business units and subsidiaries to gather information
• Draft presentation materials, policies and procedures, and other documents and correspondence
• Respond to regulator or auditor requests
• Produce minutes for record-keeping purposes
• Manage projects from inception to implementation, including all elements such as defining scope, timeline creation, status and tracking, and executing the plan
Qualifications
Key competencies/skills:
• Familiarity with the org structures of banks, particularly foreign banking organizations, Bank Holding Companies
• Familiarity with Dodd-Frank Act, cross-border derivative regulation and other important regulatory regimes
• Familiarity with governance best practices
• Project management experience and knowledge of PDCA cycle
• Knowledge of Agile project management
• Comfortable with ambiguity and able to drive projects through to completion
• Experienced coordinating with outside vendors, such as consultants or counsel
• Experienced interfacing with auditors, regulators, or government agencies
• Ability to work in both in a team, but independently
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Japanese a plus, but not required
