You will report to AIG’s Head of Global Internal Communications and work closely with the Chief Information Officer and the Technology Leadership team to establish best-in-class communication practices to engage our IT staff worldwide, as well as key business stakeholders, the greater AIG workforce and external audiences.
Specific responsibilities will include:
• Create and execute a comprehensive IT communications strategic plan which aligns with and supports the corporate business strategy.
• Craft messaging that clearly articulates the IT value proposition and priorities, and helps energize, engage and align our IT professionals worldwide.
• Work closely with the Technology Leadership Team to prioritize and coordinate all messaging across the IT function.
• Develop and administer an IT communications governance model.
• Work with the extended Corporate Communications team to amplify messaging internally, including successful business partnerships with demonstrable results, cybersecurity awareness, progress on modernization and other key initiatives.
• Create and oversee a communications cadence and calendar for the CIO with activities and messaging for specific stakeholder groups: employees, business partners, the corporate Executive Leadership Team and the Board of Directors.
• Identify and/or assess external public speaking and media opportunities for the CIO and the Technology Leadership Team.
• Organize and oversee CIO town halls.
• Develop/execute a communications plan around major program rollouts.
• Identify barriers to communications effectiveness and use influence, diplomacy and creative problem solving to resolve them.
• Assess and select the appropriate communication channels and tactics for the audience and the message: Email, the intranet, webcasts, face-to-face, conference calls, town hall meetings, podcasts, video and digital signage.
• Create and manage measurement systems to track communications effectiveness for IT, and adapt plans and tactics as needed.
• Act as a strategic communications advisor, partner and coach to the Technology Leadership Team to help them meet their goals.
• Manage and create intranet content for IT.
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in internal or external communications strategy development and execution.
• A background in IT communications.
• A proven track record in building relationships with senior leaders.
• Ability to identify communications gaps, needs and opportunities, and provide guidance and support.
• Superb writing skills and extensive experience producing copy and materials for various communication channels: Web, email, print, speeches and talking points, presentations, video, podcasts, digital displays, etc.
• An innovative and creative thinker who can get to the essence of the matter and communicate concisely and in an engaging manner.
• Business acumen, change management, project leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• A collaborative team player who will solicit and offer input, influence and support decision making.
• Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, marketing, or related fields/extensive experience in one of these fields.
