Job Description
Key Focus:
Reporting to the AVP & Valuation Actuary for the Segregated Funds Global Shared Services Center, this line actuary position is mainly accountable for the IFRS valuation of the US Variable Annuities block. You would have to have valuation experience as well as Variable Annuities product knowledge, though neither is required.
In addition to the quarterly reporting focus, the position is also responsible for other key tasks that impact the financial results of the product line and assist the department in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead junior level actuarial staff
Quarter End (QE) responsibilities include:
• Work with liability modeling as well as Reinsurance and Accounting teams to accurately book reserves
• Produce SOEs and provide applicable commentary
• Review policyholder experience analysis
• Present results to business unit CFO
Year-end (YE) responsibilities include:
• Annual basis change support and documentation
• Complete the Appointed Actuary’s Report (AAR)
• Perform SOX control testing with internal and external auditors
Off QE/YE responsibilities include:
• Identify and prioritize process improvement items
• Support special projects such as IFRS17 and the AXIS-to-Pathwise model conversion
• Perform DCAT analysis and Plan forecasts under NAIC accounting
Qualifications:
• FSA with 5+ years of actuarial and valuation experience
• Advanced analytical and inquiry skills to understand the product and valuation process
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Good interpersonal skills in order to establish and maintain good working relationships with contacts across the company
• Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and adaptability to fast-changing priorities
