Ameritas is seeking an Analyst, Customer Service to process the termination of non-variable life insurance policies that result from requests for surrender or 1035 exchange. Calculate any taxable gains associated with these policy terminations. Track all of these transactions, using established team databases.
Essential Functions:
• Analyze signatures on incoming forms to determine if the requested process has been properly authorized
• Processes full surrenders and 1035 requests in a timely manner, per established guidelines
• Accumulate detailed premium and dividend processing information to establish cost basis, enabling calculation of taxable gains. This information is reported to the policyholder and IRS
• Communicates via telephone and written correspondence with policyholders and agents to answer questions about policy terminations, and to confirm status of transactions.
• Bring any concerns regarding anti-money laundering or other compliance red flags, concerns regarding appropriate authorization of policy terminations, or any other concerns that present a risk to the company, to the attention of the Team Leader
• Responsible for entering all transactions into an established tracking system
• Back-up the Conservation Coordinator and answer telephones as needed.
• Employee has the express duty to comply with all applicable insurance laws and regulations and with approved company policies, practices and procedures related to ethical market conduct activities. Employee further has the responsibility to immediately report known or suspected violations of laws, regulations and company policies, practices and procedures to the company's compliance officer.
• Occasional projects to enhance department/team performance
• Participate in opportunities for individual professional growth and development
Required Knowledge and Skills:
• Education: High school diploma, some college preferred.
• Experience: Minimum two years experience in the life insurance industry, in a policy service capacity.
• Special Skills or Knowledge: Word-processing, Excel spreadsheet, database management experience, ability to calculate policy costs and factors, general computer knowledge.
