Job Summary
The Sr. Employee Relations Specialist provides direction, coaching and recommendations leadership and employees regarding workforce relations issues. You will investigate complaints raised by business leaders, employees and contractors. You will research, develop, interpret and apply policies and programs as necessary. You will develop and provide training to business partners and staff on employee relations as well as employment law issues.
This role will serve as an objective and trusted adviser primarily supporting our Field and Corp Division comprising of employees and people leaders spread across the Appleton, and Minneapolis home offices, as well as remote locations throughout the country. You may occasionally cover other areas to support team colleagues. We are looking for someone that thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys providing thoughtful, tailored advice to business leaders that span a variety of growth stages, products, industries, and workforce compositions.
• You will counsel and support leaders in managing off-target performance and behavior utilizing and reviewing coaching, performance improvement plans, written notices, and termination procedures as necessary.
• You'll conduct investigations of complaints, by reviewing and analyzing the information captured. You will work with managers, legal and outside counsel on recommendations for an appropriate course of action.
• Guide leaders through staff reduction decision-making process and provide transition support to impacted employees.
• Act as the Subject Matter Expert on HR policies, programs, and training regarding workforce relations matters and employment law concerns, advising on company policies, procedures and practices.
• In collaboration with the HR Partner, you will analyze workforce relations trends, issues and gaps to actively develop solutions that meet the needs of the business.
• Actively participate in any special projects or cross-functional development teams to which workforce relations subject-matter expertise is needed.
• Accurately maintain files, notes and documentation within case management tool.
• Participate and assist with any third-party agency requests, litigation or investigations (i.e. EEOC charges or unemployment claims).
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing risks and ensuring regulatory compliance with Federal, State, and local employment law requirements.
Required Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources or relevant field.
• We seek a minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in HR or similar meaningful experience.
• Prior work experience in Employee Workforce Relations, as well as an understanding of employment law, both federal and state.
• Experience advising on policy and labor relations matters with non-exempt workforces.
• PHR certification preferred.
• Ability to travel occasionally.
