Job Description:
To manage and deliver executive-level and other projects that require Lean expertise. Specific activities may include:
Gathering current-state data
Conducting in-depth data analyses
Improving the future states of processes
Improving performance on critical business metrics for revenue, cost, customer service, and operational excellence
Generating key insights for project sponsors
Becoming a thought partner with other Lean leaders
Working alongside Business Unit subject-matter experts to gain acumen
Directing the project work of Lean Leadership Program members and other Associates
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Gather current-state data, conduct in-depth data analyses, and generate current-state process maps and key insights for project sponsors. Articulate strong fact-driven recommendations for future-state processes.
Assist generation of customer insights based on customer interviews, focus groups, and surveys since customer insights will be a key factor shaping solution development.
Learn the appropriate application of Lean Six Sigma tools from Lean leaders in order to independently drive them within the first 12 months in the role.
Understand key metrics that measure business-unit performance, create scorecards, and monitor metric performance over time.
Build relationships with all key constituents necessary to deliver project results on a timely basis.
Identify and evaluate controls to sustain processes and their improvements for the long term.
Promote a risk-aware culture and ensure effective and efficient risk- and compliance-management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.
RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to either a Discover Lean Group Manager or Senior Manager,
May also be directed by Initiative team leaders (including Lean leaders, Business Unit subject-matter experts, or support-function leaders such as those from Business Technology).
Collaborates with team members to understand customer needs, map current states, design future states and deliver projects with sustainable results.
Work with relevant business units implementing Lean initiatives.
Collaborate with Lean team to listen to its membership concerns, get feedback on tested solutions, and deploy improvement initiatives or ideas.
Skills:
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Ability to use query languages to extract data
Strong analytical skills with knowledge of statistical analysis preferred
Ability to drive projects with ownership and an independent but client-first mindset
1 to 2 years of experience managing cross-functional projects preferred
1 to 2 years of experience in the financial-services industry or in B2C consumer-centric fields preferred
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
PROFESSIONAL LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS
Black Belt or Green Belt Certification in Lean or Six Sigma preferred
EDUCATION
Bachelors Degree required; Masters or other advanced quantitative degree preferred
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE IN THE AREA OF EXPERTISE
Five to seven years of professional experience.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Masters or other advanced quantitative degree. Black Belt or Green Belt Certification in Lean or Six-Sigma Experience with driving improvements in financial services and/or mortgage industry (1st mortgage, home equity lending etc)
