Position Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a Collaboration Manager who will work directly with the Collaboration Director to support Freddie Mac’s Collaboration team. This is a dynamic role for a manager to lead a team of 10-15 team members and act as an IT lead on critical initiatives impacting these platforms and responsible for end to end delivery of the collaboration platforms to the business.
Your Work Falls into Three Primary Categories:
Vendor/Project Management
• Reviewing detailed estimates to ensure that they are reasonable and aligned to historical norms where applicable. Working with the collaboration director, our vendors and internal tech leads and other team members to identify opportunities for efficiency in project planning and execution to provide the business with solutions at the lowest cost while balancing risk appropriately.
• Defining structure and resource needs for development and infrastructure teams and aligns resources to the ongoing and upcoming projects.
• Reviewing project plans and status and rapidly mobilize internal and contract resources to address risks and issues within development/infrastructure space.
• Help manage the vendor relationships and budgets for the collaboration space.
Team and Business Alignment
• Ensuring that requirements / use cases including non-functional (performance, operational and transitional) are fully developed, communicated and understood.
• Providing guidance to the team on high level design, ensuring that the design/best practices/governance and SOPs are consistent with the approved architecture and aligned to the forward-looking technical direction/roadmap.
• Engaging with the collaboration director and the entire collaboration team to define appropriate strategies and plans for new projects.
• Regularly interact with Tech Leads, Directors and other senior management on matters concerning multiple complex projects which requires the ability to negotiate with staff, clients, and support groups while maintaining effective relationships.
• Demonstrate ownership of problems, issues, or requests from start to finish. Facilitating appropriate handoffs, but track the item through resolution. Escalate proposed or actual solutions that do not adequately resolve the problem or satisfy the stated need.
• Demonstrating in-depth knowledge of business processes and comprehensive understanding of application architecture and interfaces. Solid working knowledge of software development methodology and structured analysis, process redesign.
Strategy and Service Delivery
• Working with project teams and business stakeholders to ensure that requirements gaps or issues are resolved in a transparent and timely manner.
• Engaging with enterprise and application architects to promote collaboration on the development of solution architecture. Reviewing architecture and ensuring alignment with accepted architectural principles and the strategic roadmap.
• Ensuring that development practices (e.g. code reviews, unit testing, etc.) are followed through the project life-cycle.
• Supervise project teams, leverage project managers to manage costs, staffing, and execution across multiple projects.
• Work with Collaboration Director and Tech leads for service, strategy efficiencies and support gaps to improve service SLAs.
• Champion and influence technology decisions with business partners. Establishes and maintains relationships with peers. Demonstrates characteristics of approachability, team player, and enthusiasm. Looks to find common ground and get cooperation when dealing with conflict.
Qualifications
• At least 10 years of technical project management experience implementing systems solutions
• Bachelor’s degree is required (preferred if in Management and/or Technology disciplines)
• Has software engineering experience (e.g., has played either a developer, tester, or systems analyst role) and strong analytical skills
• Experience with SharePoint, Office 365 and collaboration platform stacks and building/scoping enterprise level and customer-facing solutions on these platforms
• Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project Visio) is required
• Strong presentation skills and being a team mentor is a must
