Description
First Tennessee is looking for an individual with strong interpersonal skills as well as a solid background in finance and/or accounting. This position is for a Credit Analyst in the Community Banking Group. The Community Banking Group is responsible for managing and underwriting banking relationships (comprised of loans, deposits and other products) of locally owned businesses.
The Credit Analyst is responsible for both determining credit worthiness and appropriate lines of credit or for leading a team of Junior Credit Analysts in evaluating and approving/rejecting loan applications based on established criteria. Handles large and/or complex accounts.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Works with the Portfolio Manager (PM) and Relationship Manager (RM) in completing the credit analysis. The credit analysis is Community Banking's primary document for analyzing and underwriting all new and outstanding loans. The credit analysis performs an in depth analysis on the borrower's ability to repay focusing on the company and owner's background, recent and historical financial performance, guarantor's (if applicable) financial condition, and several other factors related to First Tennessee's underwriting policies and guidelines.
• Chair weekly credit meetings, credit analysis and structuring, loan structuring, projections and sensitivity analysis, credit approval documentation.
• Review commitment letters, loan documentation, past dues (particularly maturing and renewing credits), review covenant compliance, loan downgrades.
• Watch list management according to bank guidelines, keeping management fully informed of any material consideration affecting the loan portfolio, board presentations, ensure that credits adhere to credit policy guidelines.
• Mentoring and leadership of RM’s, analyst, and client specialists as it relates to lending, underwriting, and negation, etc.
• Must compare alternate courses of action and make a decision after considering the options.
• Determines initiatives and processes to achieve strategy and vision.
• Local, mostly non-overnight travel throughout Western North Carolina
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree required, Finance or Accounting major preferred.
At a minimum, the candidate should have exposure to finance and accounting through completed college courses or relevant work experience.
