Exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced contract manager to join the Procurement group at New York Life in a newly established role. This individual is a key contracting leader for the company's US sourcing & procurement department, and will:
• Identify, plan and execute effective and tactical and strategic contracting projects with key stakeholders inside and outside of the procurement department.
• Lead, manage and develop a core team of dedicated contracting professionals.
• Collaborate with strategic sourcing managers, other company functions and business partners, and external suppliers, to identify and execute efficient contracting solutions.
• Partner with company's Legal, Risk, Information Protection and Security and other compliance departments to ensure adherence to respective policies, processes, and established standards.
• Collaborate and partner with US procurement leaders to develop and execute contracting solutions, policy changes, technologies and process efficiencies
Experience working across a wide array of sourcing categories and transaction types is a plus.
Responsibilities:
• Liaison with internal stakeholders, department leaders, suppliers and strategic sourcing professionals to understand, develop and define both tactical and strategic contracting objectives
• Initiate effective contracting solutions as an individual contributor and manager of team members
• Plan for short and long-term contracting projects, both individually and as a manager of team members
• Consistently track, manage and adjust team performance on all projects to support contracting demand and departmental goals, including, but not limited to, contract cycle time and effective risk mitigation
• Regularly monitor, identify and resolve contracting projects to ensure satisfaction of client or departmental expectations
• Act as a point of escalation for team members and as a trusted business partner for all company stakeholders
• Oversee management, training, tracking and team-developmental responsibilities
• Liaison directly with leaders from key company compliance departments (Office of General Counsel, Risk Management, Information Security, and others) to effectively balance the need for efficient project execution and legal, risk and compliance management
• In-depth knowledge and command of strategic sourcing practices, contracting, legal, risk, and compliance objectives and best-practices, especially in a financial services company
• In-depth understanding of technology, contingent workforce and general contracting areas, including, but not limited to US and European data-privacy rules, regulations and enforcement trends
• Ability to influence partners and other business leaders
• Ability to plan for and solution short and long-term tasks both individually and for a small team
• Ability to develop, define and articulate accurate and legally enforceable business terms through written contractual documents
• Proven record of prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines .
Qualifications
• Masters degree in relevant disciplines required, JD strongly preferred
• A minimum of 10 years of contracting experience in a procurement or legal department in the areas of technology, professional services, marketing, and contingent workforce with demonstrable experience with US and European privacy regulations
• Direct management of teams ranging in size of 4 to 8 staff members
• Advanced comprehension of applicable regulatory requirements, data security , privacy and risk mitigation terms, along with a proven ability to lead, support and conduct successful negotiations
• Experience with purchasing systems and organizational interfaces (including e-procurement, Ariba, SAP and e-RFP tools)
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications: Excel, Word , PowerPoint
